This is our complete directory of UK bookmakers — every major operator listed, with a full review of each one we’ve tested.
Every bookmaker here is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. We’ve signed up, deposited, bet and withdrawn real money at the ones we review, and we say plainly which of them restrict winning accounts — the thing most affiliate sites won’t tell you.

Established high-street names
The long-standing British and Irish operators, most of whom have retail estates alongside their online businesses. These are the bookmakers most UK punters open first.
bet365 · William Hill · Coral · Ladbrokes · Betfred · BoyleSports · BetVictor · Paddy Power · Sky Bet · Betfair · Unibet · 888sport · Betway
Online-only and newer bookmakers
Operators that launched online without a shop estate, generally with a stronger app focus and newer technology.

See our new betting sites page for the latest launches in the UK market.
Independent bookmakers
Independently owned operators, generally more willing to take bets from customers who win. Worth knowing about if you’ve been restricted elsewhere.
Star Sports · BoyleSports · BetVictor · BetGoodwin · JeffBet · HighBet

Betting exchanges
Exchanges match bettors against each other rather than setting their own prices. Odds are typically better than at traditional bookmakers, commission is charged on winnings, and account restrictions are rare.
Matchbook · Betfair Exchange · Smarkets
SBK sits between the two — a traditional sportsbook interface powered by Smarkets exchange pricing.

UK Bookmakers FAQs
How many bookmakers are licensed in the UK? Well over a hundred operators hold a UK Gambling Commission licence, though only a fraction are worth an account. This directory covers the major ones, and we’ve reviewed every bookmaker we actively recommend.
How do I check whether a bookmaker is licensed in the UK? Every licensed operator must display its UK Gambling Commission licence number in the site footer, and you can check it against the Commission’s public register. If a betting site doesn’t show one, don’t deposit.
What’s the difference between a bookmaker and a betting exchange? A bookmaker sets its own prices and takes the other side of your bet. An exchange matches you against other bettors and charges commission on winnings instead. Exchange odds are usually better, and exchanges rarely restrict winning accounts.
Which UK bookmakers have closed recently? The Pools has closed and NRG Bet is closing. Both were previously available to UK customers.
How do you review bookmakers? We open accounts, deposit, bet and withdraw real money at every bookmaker we review, then assess odds, markets, app, offers, payout speed, customer service and — the one most sites avoid — whether they restrict winning accounts.
