Premier League Player Charged with Breaching Betting Rules 375 Times

Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo has been charged with breaching betting rules 375 times in a period between 2014 and 2017, when he played for Norwich City.

Now at Nottingham Forest, the defender was a Norwich City player at the time of the offences and also played for Swindon, Rotherham, Peterborough and Scunthorpe on loan.

It is alleged that he broke betting rules 375 times which could include placing bets on football of passing on information that could be used for betting.

The player has until July 19th to respond to the charge.

 

Premier League Statement on Harry Toffolo Betting Charges

Nottingham Forest’s Harry Toffolo has been charged with misconduct in relation to our betting rules,” a statement said from an FA spokesperson, shared on Twitter.

It specifies that the alleged offences took place before he was signed by the Premier League club.

“It’s alleged that the defender breached FA Rule E1 (b) 375 times between 22 January 2014 and 18 March 2017,” the statement continues. “Harry Toffolo has until Wednesday 19 July 2023 to provide his response.”

The charge comes just a couple of months after the high profile case of Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who was suspended for 8 months for betting related activity and missed out on a place in the England World Cup squad in Qatar.
