Chelsea v Man City Predictions

As the champions start their league campaign, we’re backing them to pick up where they left off from last season. Pep Guardiola’s side will be aware of the strong sides around them, particularly Arsenal, and will be keen to defend their title. We’re backing them to get off to a flyer here.

We’re expecting Phil Foden to be playing a familiar role across the front line, playing off main man Erling Haaland. City will have plenty of attacks and Foden will be involved in most, so we’re backing him to have at least one shot on target here, after he had 48 shots on target in his 35 appearances last season.

We’re taking two players to be carded in this one. Rodri, as we all know, loves a card. He gets stuck right in and breaks up the play like no other player in world football. However, that coupled with his aggressive style of play does lead to fouls and cards. Last season, he picked up eight yellow cards and one red last season, making 41 fouls in his 34 Premier League appearances. Enzo Fernandez hasn’t been a popular figure this summer, after he was forced to apologise to his teammates following some controversy after Copa America. That said, I think he will start in this one. It will be a difficult run out for him in this one, and I think he has good odds for a card here.
