A struggling West Ham United travel to face seventh-placed Brighton at the Amex this Sunday. West Ham are 18th in the league with just three wins from their 14 matches. Brighton are having a decent season and are above the likes of Man United, Liverpool and Spurs. The Seagulls are only two points outside the top four.
The Hammers are winless in three and have won just one game away from home all season – a 0-3 victory over Nottingham Forest back in August. They are 18th in the Premier League and looking to get themselves out of the relegation zone.
Brighton have had a decent season so far with six wins from their opening 14 league matches. They lost 3-4 to Villa last time out, but they won three of their four league matches prior to that.
Brighton vs West Ham Bet Builder Tip
Brighton vs West Ham Bet Builder Predictions
- Brighton to win (11/20)
- Danny Welbeck over 0.5 shots on target (2/5)
- Jarrod Bowen over 0.5 shots on target (4/6)
- Carlos Baleba to be carded (10/3)
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Brighton to win @ 11/20
Brighton are a very good side and I think they’ll win this one here at home. They have lost just two of their last 10 league matches, winning five and drawing three. West Ham haven’t had much enjoyment on the road this season, with just one away win and three wins overall in the league. The Hammers have also conceded the second highest number of goals in the league, with 28 shipped in 14. Brighton will likely exploit their leaky defence here, and I think they’ll win fairly comfortably.
Danny Welbeck over 0.5 shots on target (2/5)
Danny Welbeck is still producing for Brighton at the grand age of 35, and he doesn’t seem like stopping anytime soon. The former England striker has bagged seven goals in 14 league matches – an average of 0.5 per match. In that time he has had a total of 23 shots, nine of which have been on target. Against a West Ham side who struggle defensively, I expect Brighton to have a multitude of chances, and Welbeck should manage at least one shot on target.
ALTERNATIVE BET – Danny Welbeck to score @ 27/20
With seven of his nine shots on target resulting in a goal, there’s a good chance that if he gets a shot on target, he’ll score. At 27/20, he’s good odds to grab his eighth goal of the season.
Jarrod Bowen over 0.5 shots on target (4/6)
Despite West Ham’s very poor season so far, Jarrod Bowen has still been getting chances. He hasn’t been great himself, but has managed to score three league goals this season. In his 14 appearances, he has had a massive 35 shots, showing his willingness to get forward and have a go. Of those 35, 14 shots have been on target, giving him exactly one shot on target per game. It won’t be a particularly easy game for Brighton – although I do think they’ll win – and West Ham will have a few chances. Bowen is good odds to keep up his average and have at least one shot on target in this one.
Carlos Baleba to be carded (10/3)
The player I’m backing to be carded is Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. The midfielder has been carded four times in his 14 league appearances this season, making 18 fouls in the process, an average of more than one foul per game. Coming up against the likes of Bowen, who has had 26 fouls against him so far this season, I expect Baleba to make at least a couple of fouls. He’s good odds to pick up her fifth league booking of the season.
