Rangers vs Liverpool Bet Builder Tips & Predictions – Salah to Re-find some form in Reds win

Champions League tips

Rangers vs Liverpool bet builder tips and predictions for the Champions League group stage clash at Ibrox on Wednesday 12th October.

Another evening of Champions League action lies ahead, with three British teams playing this evening. Tottenham host Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt while Rangers play host to Liverpool for round two in their Battle of Britain fixtures.

It was another disappointing afternoon for Liverpool at the weekend when they were beaten 3-2 by Arsenal and the injury problems are mounting up with Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip all set for a spell on the sidelines.

Liverpool were easy winnings of the reverse fixture a week ago but this will be more difficult for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the heat of an Ibrox atmosphere on Champions League night. Rangers won 4-0 against St Mirren at the weekend.

Liverpool are second in the group on six points, while Rangers’ zero points place them fourth. Atop the group on nine points are Napoli. Ajax are third on three points.

The visitors have scored in each of their three Champions League contests this season. The home side, meanwhile, are yet to find the net in the competition.

Liverpool to win

Liverpool have had a poor start to this Premier League season. However, they’ve won their last two in the Champjons League, including a 2-0 victory over Rangers at Anfield last week. Jurgen Klopp’s side were comfortable in that fixture, and I think they’ll have too much for Rangers again in this one, despite the inevitable lively Ibrox crowd being behind the home side. Rangers have lost all three of their Champions League group matches, conceding nine goals and scoring none in the process. I think Liverpool will travel to Glasgow confident of returning with all three points, and I expect them to do exactly that.

Connor Goldson to be booked

With Liverpool expected to be on the front foot for most of this one, Connor Goldson will be in for a tough shift. He will have a lot of defending to do, which Rangers are not particularly used to at Ibrox, and I think he will need to make some fouls to stop Liverpool making a quick break. The Englishman has been shown six yellow cards in all competitions already this season, and I think he is excellent value to be added to the referee’s book in this one. It is likely that Goldson will be up against a physical Darwin Nunez in this fixture. On average, Nunez draws 1.58 fouls per game, and with Liverpool likely to have the lions share of possession, he may be fouled more in this one, especially by Goldson.

Mohammed Salah to score anytime

Despite Liverpool’s slow start to the season, Mo Salah has still been on hand to chip in with some goals. He has managed four in all competitions, with two coming in the Champions League including one against Rangers last time out. The Reds should create a host of chances at Ibrox, and Mo Salah is often the man putting the ball in the net. He has a great chance of adding to his season tally in this one. Salah will not be at the 2022 World Cup after missing out on qualifying so he will get a rest midseason.
