MATCH RESULT – DRAW
Firstly, I’m backing Kompany’s men to take a point back to Turf Moor in the opener. The first few games of the season are often cagey affairs, and I see this being no different. These sides have faced off in the league just five times in the last five years, four of them being Premier League fixtures and the other an FA Cup tie last year. Of the four league games played, the points have been shared on three occasions. With a host of new players playing competitively for their new clubs for the first time, I can see it taking some time for them to gel and therefore the draw seems like the most likely outcome in this one.TOTAL GOALS – UNDER 2.5
Looking at the recent head-to-heads between the two, goals have been hard to come by. Two of the fixtures ended goalless, with one another being a 1-1 draw. As highlighted, Huddersfield’s home form was very good last year and I don’t think they’ll be pushovers on their own patch once again this year. Neither sides have very prolific goalscorers, but do have resolute defences, and I can see defences coming out on top on Friday evening.PLAYER TO BE CARDED – JOSH BROWNHILL (BURNLEY)
Finally, the last selection of my 12/1 Bet Builder is Burnley’s energetic midfielder Josh Brownhill to be shown a yellow card. I can see this game being quite feisty, and Brownhill proves excellent value to be carded should it pan out that way. He was shown a yellow 10 times last season, and whilst that could be down to Burnley fighting for their lives, he isn’t one to shy away from a tackle. I think the key to this game will be the midfield and Brownhill may find himself in an individual battle with Huddersfield Captain Jonathan Hogg, who isn’t afraid to put it about himself. Hogg’s experience may well find Brownhill see his name in the referee’s notebook during the 90 minutes.Huddersfield vs Burnley Bet Builder Tip
- Match to end in a draw
- Under 2.5 goals
- Josh Brownhill to be carded
Huddersfield vs Burnley Betting Tip
If you’re interested in a bet for Huddersfield vs Burnley, you may have seen the positive mention given to Burnley’s new man Scott Twine in my League Winners preview. He’s already bagged for his new side in pre-season during a 1-0 win against League 2 Rochdale. He’s currently 6/1 (Bet365) to open the scoring on Friday evening, which could prove excellent value should he be in the starting 11.
