There was big news out of Celtic Football Club when a statement was released on Monday evening to say Brendan Rodgers is leaving – but who will be the next Celtic manager according to the latest betting odds?
Celtic’s major shareholder, Dermot Desmond, did not hold back with his statement, informing the world that Rodgers was leaving, claiming their former manager had shown “divisive, misleading, and self-serving” behaviour over the last few months of his tenure.
He went on to say: “When we brought Brendan back to Celtic two years ago, it was done with complete trust and belief in his ability to lead the club into a new era of sustained success. Unfortunately, his conduct and communication in recent months have not reflected that trust.”
Now, the search for Celtic’s new manager is underway, and it is another former boss, Ange Postecoglou, who is the early favourite to return to Celtic Park.

Speaking to thatsagoal.com, bet365’s Trading expert Steve Freeth said: “It was a stormy and interesting Monday night in Glasgow as Rodgers departed for a second time and was replaced by interim manager Martin O’Neill.
“At any other club, I would have thought Ange Postecoglou might want a rest after a turbulent few months, but this opportunity might just appeal to him after the success he had last time.”
Ange Postecoglou to Return as Celtic Manager
A return to north of the border might suit Postecoglou after his 39-day tenure at Nottingham Forest was terminated last weekend. Despite winning a trophy with Tottenham, is was a disaster domestically, and things didn’t get any better when he took over at Forest. Another shot at the Celtic job could be exactly what Ange needs after two failures as a Premier League manager.
He won the Scottish Premiership title in both seasons as Celtic manager, and despite being eight points behind Hearts following their 3-1 defeat at the weekend, it would be foolish to rule out Celtic this early on in the campaign.
Could Martin O’Neill be Given the Celtic Job Full-time?
In what looked like a pre-planned appointment, another former Celtic manager, Martin O’Neill, was given the temporary role as Celtic manager.
It remains to be seen if he wants the job full-time after not taking up a managerial position for six years, but he is 8/1 in the next Celtic manager odds at bet365.
O’Neill managed Celtic from 2000 to 2005, winning three Scottish titles, three Scottish Cups and one League Cup. His win rate of 75.5% remains the best of any Celtic manager in history.
There is no doubt that O’Neill will be a popular appointment, but following a long absence from management, and an eight-point deficit to make up in the title race, is the Northern Irishman the right man to take Celtic forward? And will he even want the job permanently?
