- Coventry are the 4/5 favourites to start their season with a victory.
- The draw is 14/5 with BetMGM.
- If you think Hull can upset the odds here, you can bet on them at 18/5 with Betfred.
The new Championship season kicks off this weekend, and Frank Lampard’s Coventry will want to carry on where they left off last season. Their charge to the play-offs was really impressive, and they’ve had good results in their pre-season friendlies too.
Hull survived by the skin of their teeth last season, and things could be a struggle again this time around. We’re predicting a home win in this match, and a 2-0
correct score is the betting tip.
Backed by solid home form and new attacking threats, Coventry look well-placed to edge it but Hull won’t make it easy.

Coventry vs Hull Bet Builder Tip Reasons
Coventry to win:
The hosts will be expected to get off to a winning start here and Frank Lampard will be looking to build on the second half of last season. They ended the 2024/25 campaign by narrowly losing out in the play-off semi-finals to Sunderland, but the run to get them there was built on some brilliant home form.
The Sky Blues won seven of their last eight home matches, losing only to Burnley.
Matt Crooks to be carded:
The Hull midfielder was booked twice in his last four matches last season, and if he starts here, he looks a
good bet to get a yellow card. He made four fouls in the last game of the season against Portsmouth, and in a match where we’re predicting Hull to be on the back foot for large parts of the game, whoever starts in the Hull midfield is worth a shout for a card.
Ephrom Mason-Clark to have over 0.5 shots on target:
Coventry’s left winger averaged almost 1 shot on target per 90 minutes last season. This bet would have won in four of his last six starts at the end of last season, so if he starts this match, he’s a decent bet for a shot on target.

Coventry Team News vs Hull
Coventry are coming into the new season with confidence. They were solid at home winning six of their last eight games. In terms of team news, they’ve got a few key players missing. Goalkeeper Oliver Dovin is still out with a knee injury, and midfielders Josh Eccles and Victor Torp won’t be available either. There’s also some hope that star striker Haji Wright might make the bench after recovering from an Achilles problem.
Hull Team News vs Coventry
Hull are starting fresh under new manager Sergej Jakirović, and they’ve had a strong pre-season to build some momentum winning all four of their friendlies. They do have a few players out, though. Óscar Zambrano is suspended, and they’ll also be missing Liam Millar, Dökügan Sınık, Mohamed Belloumi, Eliot Matazo, and Louie Barry. On the bright side, they’ve added some strong names to the squad as Semi Ajayi joins from West Brom to strengthen the backline, and Gustavo Puerta has made his move from Leverkusen permanent.
