Scotland host Belarus on Sunday – a game that could see them secure at least second place in this World Cup qualifier group. Belarus are bottom of the group with zero points.
Scotland were poor against Greece at Hampden on Thursday, but three second-half goals saw them come from 0-1 down to overcome the Greeks. Scotland haven’t lost a World Cup qualifier match at Hampden in 12 years, despite not reaching the finals since 1998.
Belarus come into this one following a 6-0 hammering from Denmark, who are level on points with Scotland. The Belarusians are winless in their three Group C matches.
Scotland vs Belarus Bet Builder Tip
Scotland vs Belarus Predictions
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Scotland to win both halves @ Evens
As I said, Scotland were incredibly poor for the first 60 minutes against Greece on Thursday. After going 0-1 down in the second half, goals from Ryan Christie, Lewis Ferguson and Lyndon Dunes secured a 3-1 victory for Steve Clarke’s side. They’re level on points with group leaders Denmark, with two wins and a draw from their three matches.
The Scots defeated Belarus 0-2 away from home back in September, and I think they’ll win this one comfortably on Sunday. Taking them to win both the first half and the second half really boosts the odds for the World Cup bet builder tip, and following Belarus’ 6-0 battering last time out, it could easily happen on Sunday.
ALTERNATIVE BET – if you don’t think it will be quite as comfortable for Scotland, you can back them just to win at 1/9.
Anytime Scorer Tip – Che Adams to score (4/5)
Che Adams was on target for Scotland in that 0-2 victory the last time these two met, and I think he has a good chance of bagging in this one too. I expect Steve Clarke to start a similar side, only changing those who miss out through suspension, so I think Adams will start again. He has one goal in his six Serie A appearances for Torino this season.
With Scotland likely to dominate, backing their striker to score is a good bet.
Both Teams to Score Tip – no (2/5)
I don’t think Belarus will get themselves on the scoresheet at Hampden this weekend. Scotland have only conceded one goal in their three group games so far, coming last time out against Greece, and have a pretty solid defensive structure. Belarus have scored just one in three, conceding a massive 13 in the process.
This selection came in when these two last met in September, and given Belarus have scored only two goals in their last four matches, with zero in their last two, I think there’s a great chance it’ll land again.
Scotland vs Belarus Yellow Card Prediction – Nikita Korzun to be carded (15/8)
I think Belarus’ Nikita Korzun is an excellent selection for a booking at 15/8. He has picked up one card in his two Group C appearances so far.
Plying his trade with FC Aktobe in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the defensive midfielder has been booked five times domestically this season, with four yellow cards in nine league matches, and one from his two Europa League appearances.
Scotland will have the wind in their sails following their midweek victory, and I think they’ll create a lot of chances. Korzun will have the task of breaking down play against the likes of Ben Gannon-Doak, Scott McTominay and John McGinn, who are all partial to winning fouls to get their side up the park. He’s great odds for a booking.
