Nottingham Forest welcome Fenerbahce to the City Ground following a convincing 3-0 victory in the first leg in Turkey. Forest look to finish the job in this Europa League playoff second leg and book their place in the next round.
Below you will find our Nottingham Forest vs Fenerbahce betting tips, match predictions and a 14/1 bet builder.
Key Stats – Nottingham Forest vs Fenerbahce
- Forest won the first leg 3-0 in Turkey, giving them a commanding aggregate advantage heading into the second leg
- Morgan Gibbs-White averages more than one shot on target per game in the Europa League this season, with 11 in eight appearances
- Marco Asensio has averaged exactly one shot on target per game in European competition this season
- Matteo Guendouzi has picked up four bookings in 10 appearances for Fenerbahce and made two fouls in the first leg against Forest
- Fenerbahce are winless in two, their most recent outing being a 1-1 draw with third-bottom Kasimpasa
- Forest have won their last two Europa League matches, both convincingly — 4-0 against Ferencvaros and 3-0 against Fenerbahce
Nottingham Forest Form and Match Preview
Forest have won only two of their last six, with both of those wins coming in the Europa League — an emphatic 4-0 victory over Ferencvaros and the win over Fenerbahce. In the league, they’re struggling down in 17th place with just seven wins this season.
There is a clear disconnect between Forest’s domestic and European form this season, but for Thursday night’s purposes, the Europa League form is all that matters. They arrive at the City Ground in complete control of this tie and with the crowd firmly behind them. A home crowd that has not had a great deal to shout about in the Premier League this season will be fully invested in this European run, and that atmosphere could prove a significant advantage. Forest know how to perform on these occasions, and with a three-goal cushion already banked, they can play with freedom and confidence.
Fenerbahce Form and Match Preview
Fenerbahce are having a good season in Turkey, and lie second in the league, just two points behind Galatasaray at the top. They’ve won four in 10 in all competitions overall, but the momentum has stalled at a crucial time.
They head to Nottingham winless in two, after being held to a 1-1 draw with Kasimpasa — a side sitting third bottom in the Turkish league — last time out. That is exactly the kind of result that undermines confidence ahead of a European second leg where you need to overturn a three-goal deficit. Fenerbahce have the attacking quality of Marco Asensio and others to cause Forest problems on the night, but psychologically and statistically, the odds are firmly stacked against them. They need to score three without reply away from home, which no evidence from their recent form suggests they are capable of.
Nottingham Forest vs Fenerbahce Bet Builder Tip
Nottingham Forest vs Fenerbahce Betting Tips and Best Bets
- Nottingham Forest to win (8/15)
- Morgan Gibbs-White over 0.5 shots on target (4/9)
- Marco Asensio over 0.5 shots on target (5/4)
- Matteo Guendouzi over 1.5 fouls (12/5)
Best Bet Builder Tip – Nottingham Forest to Win
Following a convincing win in the first leg of this fixture, I fancy Forest to do the double over Fenerbahce and put this tie to bed with a win in the second leg. They haven’t had a good season in the league, but have won their last two Europa League matches convincingly, and I expect them to continue that form as they return to the City Ground. Fenerbahce are now winless in two, after being held to a 1-1 draw with 10-man Kasimpasa, who are third bottom of the Turkish League, last time out. I think Forest will win this one.
Morgan Gibbs-White Over 0.5 Shots on Target (4/9)
Morgan Gibbs-White is the first of two players I’m backing to have one or more shots on target this Thursday. The midfielder has bagged eight goals in all competitions this season, with six in the Premier League and two in the Europa League. In the Europa League, he has had 11 shots on target in eight appearances, giving him an average of more than one per game. I think there’s a good chance he will have at least one shot on target against Fenerbahce.
Alternative Bet – Morgan Gibbs-White to Score (8/5)
Taking Morgan Gibbs-White for a goal here increases the odds of this bet builder to 25/1 with bet365. Forest will create a good amount of chances, and at 8/5, he’s reasonable odds for a goal.
Marco Asensio Over 0.5 Shots on Target (5/4)
Marco Asensio is good odds for a shot on target at 5/4. The former Real Madrid winger has bagged 13 goals in all competitions this season, with 11 in the league and two in the Turkish Cup. He’s yet to score on the European stage this campaign, but he has had seven shots on target in seven appearances, giving him an average of exactly one shot on target per game in this competition. I don’t think his team will create an awful lot, but I do think 5/4 is good odds for him to have a shot on target.
Matteo Guendouzi Over 1.5 Fouls (12/5)
We’re all familiar with Matteo Guendouzi from his time in the Premier League with Arsenal. He’s now plying his trade in Turkey since joining from Lazio in January. In his 10 appearances so far, he has picked up four cards for Fenerbahce, with one of them coming in the first leg against Forest. In Serie A, where he featured 16 times for Lazio, he picked up six yellow cards and one red card. His only Europa League appearance so far this season was last week against Forest, and he made two fouls. I think he will make another couple here.
Nottingham Forest v Fenerbahce Predictions Summary
To summarise our Nottingham Forest vs Fenerbahce betting tips and predictions for Thursday’s Europa League second leg:
Our best bet is Nottingham Forest to win, backed by their dominant first leg display, Fenerbahce’s woeful recent form, and the advantage of playing at the City Ground with the tie already in hand. Our 14/1 bet builder combines a Forest win, Gibbs-White over 0.5 shots on target, Asensio over 0.5 shots on target, and Guendouzi over 1.5 fouls.
If you want to chase a bigger price, swapping Gibbs-White over 0.5 shots on target for Gibbs-White to score at 8/5 pushes the builder out to 25/1 with bet365 — a worthwhile upgrade if you back him to get on the scoresheet in what should be an open game at the City Ground.
