It’s an all Premier League clash as Newcastle welcome Man City to St James’ Park in this FA Cup fifth round clash. City are second in the Premier League, while Newcastle are 12th.
Newcastle come into this one off the back of an impressive 2-1 victory over Man United, a game in which they were down to 10 men for the whole of the second half. They’ve won 11 of their 29 league matches so far this season.
Manchester City have won 18 of their 29 league matches this season, and have gone 10 games unbeaten, with two draws and eight wins in that time.
Newcastle vs Man City Bet Builder Tip
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Man City to win @ 19/20
Man City were victorious over Newcastle when these two last met just two weeks ago, with a 2-1 win in the Premier League. They also beat them in both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final – 0-2 and 3-1 – which means they have beat them three times in less than two months, and in three of the four meetings between these two so far this season. City have won eight of their last 10, and I don’t expect them to slip up here against a Newcastle side who have won only five of their last 10. I expect City to progress to the next round of the cup this weekend.
Both teams to score (8/15)
With Newcastle being at home, and a place in the next round of the cup up for grabs, I do think both teams will score here. In the three recent meetings between these two, both teams have scored in two of them. City have scored in their last 11 matches in all competitions, conceding in five of them. Newcastle have scored and conceded in each of their last 10 matches, and I think they’ll manage a goal this weekend against City, despite expecting them to lose.
Dan Burn to be booked (12/5)
I’m backing Newcastle defender Dan Burn to pick up a booking this weekend. The 33-year-old has been carded 12 times in all competitions this season, with 10 in the league – nine yellows and one red – and another two in the Champions League. He has made 33 fouls in his 21 league outings, an average of more than 1.5 fouls per game. Against a very strong City front line, he will be up against it here, and I think he’s good odds for a foul at 12/5.
ALTERNATIVE BET – Dan Burn over 1.5 fouls @ 57/50
Taking Burn to have more than 1.5 fouls at odds of 57/50 decreases the odds of this bet builder to 22/1. He averages more than 1.5 per game in the league so far, and I think he will have that here too. If you don’t fancy him for a card, this is a decent alternative selection.
Bernardo Silva to be booked (3/1)
For an attacking player, Bernardo Silva is prone to a booking or two. The Portuguese midfielder has made 42 fouls in 38 matches in all competitions this season, an average of more than one foul per game. He has had 12 cards in all competitions, with eight in the Premier League, three in the Champions League and one in the Carabao Cup. This will be a close game, as it has been in all meetings between these two this season, and I think Silva will make a foul or two. 3/1 is good odds for him to pick up his 13th card of the season this weekend.
