Brazil to win 

Brazil, the favourites for the tournament and a team we’re all very much looking forward to watching. Very few will be expecting them to slip up in this one and I’m inclined to agree. The Brazilians will be keen to get their campaign off to a winning start against Serbia, and with seven wins in their last seven matches, they are coming in to the tournament in great form. In those seven, they’ve scored three or more goals on six occasions and will be very hard for Serbia to stop. I expect they’ll win this one comfortably. 

 

Neymar Jr to score 

Neymar is one player defenders won’t be looking forward to coming up against. The PSG star has bagged five goals in his last six games for his country and will be hopeful of getting in amongst the golden boot candidates at this World Cup. He is Brazil’s penalty taker and, given that Brazil will attack a lot in this fixture, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them awarded a penalty here. He is in fine goalscoring form for PSG this season too, with 11 goals in 12 starts and two substitute appearances. You’d be brave to bet against him getting amongst the goals in this one. 

 

Sasa Lukic to be booked 

Sasa Lukic is a physical player and that has shown in his domestic appearances for Torino in the Serie A this season. The defensive midfielder has picked up three bookings in the 10 starts and two substitute appearances he has made this season and averages 1.90 fouls per game for his club. With the likes of Neymar and Raphina cutting inside for Brazil, and Casemiro one of his likely direct opponents, I expect him to have a hard day at the office and make a number of fouls here. I think he’s good value for a card in this one.
