Crystal Palace are headed to the seaside this Sunday as they take on Brighton & Hove Albion at two o’clock. Both teams are evenly matched on paper, making for an exciting fixture.
Brighton are 13th in the league after 24 games, on 31 points. They’ve won seven, drawn 10 and lost seven so far this season.
Palace started the season well but have had a major drop in form, which finds them in 15th, two points behind Brighton with 29 points to their name. They are winless in their last 12 in all competitions.
Brighton vs Crystal Palace Bet Builder Tip
Brighton vs Crystal Palace Predictions
- Brighton to win (1/1)
- Both teams to score (7/10)
- Danny Welbeck over 0.5 shots on target (8/13)
- Carlos Baleba to be booked (13/5)
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Brighton to win @ 1/1
I think Evens is a great price for Brighton to win this one at home. Palace’s form of late has been abysmal, with no wins in their last 12 in all competitions, and without a league win since early December. Brighton have been better, with seven draws, one win and two defeats in their last 10 league matches. They also defeat Man United a month ago, away from home in the third round of the FA Cup. This selection, however, is mostly down to Palace’s downfall, and I don’t expect them to come away from Brighton with anything this Sunday.
Both teams to score (7/10)
Although I think Brighton will win, I expect both sides to create chances, so I think both will score. Both teams have scored in seven of Brighton’s last 10 in all competitions, and they have conceded 34 Premier League goals this season. For Palace, both teams have scored seven of their last 10 as well, and they’ve shipped 29 league goals. The last game between these two ended 0-0; both teams have scored in eight of their last 10 matches with each other. I think both teams will score.
ALTERNATIVE BET – Under 3.5 goals @ 2/5
Eight of the last 10 matches between these two have seen under 3.5 goals (four have ended 1-1!). If you don’t think both teams will score, under 3.5 is shorter odds, but I think it’s a pretty safe bet.
Danny Welbeck over 0.5 shots on target (8/13)
Danny Welbeck has had a decent season, scoring nine goals overall, with eight in the league and one in the FA Cup. The 35-year-old former Manchester United and Arsenal man has had 33 shots in the league – 13 of which have been on target – and I think there’s a great chance he will have at least one here. His last goal came against United in that cup win last month, and he will be keen to get back to scoring goals in the league. I expect Brighton to create most chances, and I think at least one will fall to Danny Welbeck.
Carlos Baleba to be booked (13/5)
I’m taking Brighton’s Carlos Baleba for a booking here. He has been carded four times in the league this season, making 23 fouls in 19 appearances, an average of more than one per game. Last season, he picked up eight yellows and one red card in 34 league outings. Coming up against physical players like Jefferson Lerma (who has been carded five times this season, too), I think he will have to make a couple of fouls. At 13/5 Baleba is good odds to pick up his fifth league booking of the season.
