Arne Slot’s struggling Liverpool welcome Dutch side PSV to Anfield on Wednesday, a game in which they’ll be hoping to turn their poor form around. Liverpool are eighth in the Champions League, while PSV are 18th.
The Reds started the season very well, but things have gone downhill quite dramatically. They’re now 11th in the league with six wins and six defeats in the opening 12 matches.
PSV are having a fantastic season in the Eredivisie, with 11 wins from 13 leaving them top of the table, six points ahead of Feyenoord in second.

Liverpool vs PSV Prediction – Liverpool to win (8/25)
I’m backing Liverpool to get back to winning ways against PSV here. Although the Dutch side are flying, I think Liverpool will have too much quality for them, especially at Anfield in front of their home support. They have lost their last two league matches 3-0, against Man City and Nottingham Forest, but performed well in the game before that, defeating Spanish giants Real Madrid 1-0 at Anfield. They have won three of their four matches in the Champions League, and I think they’ll pick up another victory in this one.
BEST BET BUILDER TIP – both teams to score @ 3/5
With PSV flying high, I think they’ll at least get on the scoresheet at Anfield. They are the highest scorers in the Dutch top flight with 41 goals in 11 matches, an average of more than three per game. They have conceded 17 in that time. Liverpool have scored 18 and conceded 20 in the Premier League. Both teams have scored in two of Liverpool’s four Champions League matches, while both teams have been on the scoresheet in all four of PSV’s European matches this season.
Hugo Ekitike over 0.5 shots on target (8/15)
Many of Arne Slot’s summer signings have come under real criticism since joining Liverpool, but the best of them all so far has to be Hugo Ekitike. The former Eintracht Frankfurt striker has scored six times in all competitions, with three in the Premier League, and one in each of the Champions League, Community Shield and Carabao Cup. In the league, he has had five shots on target, an average of just under 0.5 per game. In the Champions League, he averages one per game with four in four appearances.
ALTERNATIVE BET – Hugo Ekitike to score @ 23/20
23/20 is good odds for Ekitike to score his seventh goal of the season in this one. Liverpool will create plenty of chances at home, and I think Ekitike could get his name on the scoresheet.
Ivan Perisic to be booked (11/5)
Former Bayern, Spurs and Inter midfield Ivan Perisic is the man I’m backing to pick up a card in this one. At 36 years of age, he has made 17 appearances this season for PSV, picking up three cards. Two of them have been in the Eredivisie, with one in the Champions League. He has made 16 fouls in the league, and four in the Champions League. That gives him an average of more than one per game, and I think he will make at least one foul here, which gives him a good chance of picking up a card.
