James Maddison gives an insight into life under Ange Postecoglou

James Maddison at Spurs

Marking their return from October’s international break with a 2-0 victory against Fulham on Monday night and climbing back to the top of the Premier League table, Tottenham’s James Maddison has given an insight into working under Ange Postecoglou.

Maddison discusses Postecoglou’s ‘non-negotiable’ demands

In the midst of what has been a record-breaking start to the new Premier League campaign and currently leading the chase at the very top of the table, Postecoglou has enjoyed a remarkable start to life in north London.

Once again winning the Manager of the Month award for September, the Australian tactician made history by becoming the first boss to win the award twice in his first two months in the job.

With Spurs already mustering 23 points from his first nine Premier League appearances, Postecoglou’s side have quickly gained a string of plaudits.

Speaking after Monday’s routine 2-0 victory against Fulham, Maddison discussed how Postecoglou has already installed a relentless work ethic since arriving in the capital.

“The first day he came in he said ‘pressing high is almost a non-negotiable at any stage of the game.”

Is Maddison the Premier League’s signing of the summer?

Arriving from Leicester for a fee of just £40million back in June, there is certainly a strong argument to be made that Maddison has already cemented his spot as the Premier League’s signing of the summer.

Almost immediately appointed as one of Tottenham’s new vice-captains for this season, the ex-Norwich starlet is clearly relishing his new responsibilities.

Forming what has quickly become a lethal partnership with Son Heung-min and already notching a combined tally of 10 Premier League goals, Maddison is certainly in the best form of his career.

While Tottenham might still be seen as a real outside contender in this season’s title chase, fans around the white half of north London will know that Maddison must be firing on all cylinders if they are to spring a seismic upset.
