The tournament is made up of two initial groups of qualifiers that then join the Super 12, which is again split into two groups.
The eight teams that performed best at the last World Cup and are highest in the ICC Rankings automatically qualify for the Super 12, with the final four spots split between the top two teams in qualifying groups A and B.
