Worst Cashout Of All Time? Punter Misses out on over £814,000

Cashout fail

The last day of the 2023/24 Premier League season was particularly bad for one football punter as he goes into the hall of fame with one of the worst cashouts of all time.

The Liverpool fan has picked three correct score bets and staked £219 on all three to be correct, and with a few minutes left across the matches, he decided to cashout for £5,130.21. However, if he had have held his nerve and not cashed out, the bet would have returned £814,023.

What was the bet?

A £219 stake on these three correct score predictions:

  • Liverpool 2-0 Wolves (12/1)
  • Sheffield United 0-3 Tottenham (10/1)
  • Brighton 0-2 Manchester United (25/1)

ODDS – 3717/1

With 15 minutes left in the matches, Liverpool were 2-0 up and Tottenham 3-0 up, Brighton vs Man United was 0-0 but Dalot scored to make it 1-0 and the punter hit the cashout button.

However, disaster was not far away when Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojland scored a second United goal with a couple of minutes remaining. That meant that all three of the predictions were correct and as the full-time whistles went across the matches, there were no more goals.

Although he still took home over £5000, it has to go down as a terrible decision to cashout when you think a life-changing £814,000 was just 15 minutes away. He will never get that chance again and that is the reason people will always say never cash out.
