3:45 Musselburgh — Sky Bet Proud To Support Young Lives Vs Cancer Apprentice Handicap (Class 4, 1m)

Tip: DWINDLING FUNDS (Win)

Top track trainer Jim Goldie launches a four-pronged attack on Sunday’s TV opener, and DWINDLING FUNDS could fill the coffers and get off the mark for the season.

The Intrinsic gelding developed into a fair sort last term, winning his fair share with six victories during a busy campaign on a variety of underfoot conditions, although none of those wins came here. However, he did go close on his final start last November when touched off by just a nose, and he made another good fist of things over slightly further back here two weeks ago when finishing second to Noche Clasica.

He’s proven he can be competitive off this mark, which is the same as two weeks ago, as well as in this grade, and Rhys Elliott again takes a handy weight allowance off his back. The drop back to one mile is fine amd ground is no problem, and likely to be sharper for his reappearance, he can go close.

3:55 Nottingham — Pertemps Network Group Handicap (Class 6, 6f)

Tip: BOLD RETURN (Each-way)

BOLD RETURN could be worth chancing here on the back of a promising reappearance at Southwell last month.

Steph Hollinshead’s charge showed glimpses of ability last term in maidens and went close to breaking her duck on her handicap debut at Beverley last August on her final start of the campaign, where she was beaten a half-length into second behind Rum Therapy.

That winner, along with the third horse home, have both gone on to win, and the Mehmas filly ran well on her latest run at Southwell to finish two lengths fourth behind Life After Love. She’ll be sharper for that outing, and the winner and third horses home have both won to give the form a boost and racing off 1lb lower here, she can go close.

4:15 Musselburgh — Enter ITV7 For Free EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes (Class 3, 5f)

Tip: DONNA RUMMA (Win)

DONNA RUMMA shaped well on her debut at Beverley eleven days ago, and with that experience under her belt, the Lucky Vega filly can go one better to get off the mark.

Richard Hannon’s charge found only one too good on that occasion, but she was a shade unlucky, having been denied a clear run and being short of room in the final furlong. Once in the clear, she finished well, but the winner had got first run, and she couldn’t make inroads into the deficit.

The third horse has run well since to give the form a small boost and is entitled to improve for that first run, she can strike here for a yard, which doesn’t send too many runners here, so her presence in the field could be significant.

4:25 Nottingham — Pertemps Network Commercial Handicap (Class 3, 5f)

Tip: NAD AL SHEBA GREEN (Win)

Layla Liz and NAD AL SHEBA GREEN reoppose having finished 1-2 at Wolverhampton on their respective returns last month, but Clive Cox’s charge is taken to reverse that form here.

The Dark Angel filly was beaten only a half-length by Archie Watson’s rival, perhaps just giving the winner too much rope in front. She’s 2lbs better off here for her narrow margin defeat, and back on turf, she can turn the tables.

She has won three times on grass, which includes one over C&D and her pull at the weights for this rematch, while slight, could be enough to see her come out on top this time around, especially with the quicker ground likely to be in her favour.

4:45 Musselburgh — Sky Bet Club Fillies’ Handicap (Class 5, 1m1f)

Tip: LADY DORA MAE (Each-way)

LADY DORA MAE could be worth chancing back on turf with the Space Blues filly already a dual all-weather winner this year, and George Boughey’s charge can get back on track.

Her only previous try on turf came in Ireland when trained by Fozzy Stack, finishing a fair seventh in heavy ground, and she’s raced only on the all-weather since joining the Boughey camp with four starts thus far.

She has won two of them, one at Southwell and one at Kempton, and she ran better than the bare result in the All-weather Vase at Lingfield when last seen, fading late, having raced keenly and being carried left and squeezed for room late on to eventually finish eighth behind Cool Molly.

The winner and runner-up have both won since to boost that form, and she takes a slight drop in grade for this recovery mission over a slightly longer trip. She’s still relatively unexposed compared to a few of these, and if handling the switch back to turf, she could well down in class under her good claiming rider.

4:55 Nottingham — British Stallion Studs EBF Nottinghamshire Oaks Stakes (Listed Race, 1m2f) — NAP

Tip: SEE THE FIRE (NAP)

It is difficult to get away from SEE THE FIRE on her reappearance, and Andrew Balding’s charge can make a winning return to action.

The Sea The Stars mare was a Group Two winner last term, taking the Middleton at York before acquitting herself well in Group One company, including when denied only a short-head by Barnavara in the Prix de l’Opera.

She did run below her best when last seen at Del Mar in the Breeders’ Cup Fillies and Mares race, but she sets out this campaign with a very winnable assignment, and her form from last season should make her very hard to beat if she’s anywhere close to her best given she has a stone and more in hand of her rivals on official ratings.

5:15 Musselburgh — Sky Bet For The Fans Handicap (Class 4, 1m4½f)

Tip: FAST FRED (Win)

FAST FRED won over C&D two weeks ago, and a 4lbs rise in the weights for that victory might not prevent Philip Makin’s charge from going in again.

The Outstrip gelding was a fair sort last term, registering a number of placed efforts before winning at Carlisle last July and finishing third in a valuable York handicap before he went off the boil late on. However, he made a pleasing reappearance following six months off at Newcastle in March, finding only one too good before going one better latest where he got the better of Fox Journey by one length.

He appeared to win a shade cosily in that most recent victory and his subsequent rise in the weights could prove fair and jockey Rowan Scott gets on very well with him so the pair could make their presence felt here.

5:25 Nottingham — Pertemps Network Industrial Handicap (Class 4, 1m6f)

Tip: CODIAK (Win)

CODIAK wasn’t disgraced when coming up short in his hat-trick attempt at Wolverhampton at the beginning of the month and Ed Bethell’s charge is taken to bounce back here.

The Make Believe gelding had won his two previous outings at Wolverhampton and Southwell, having just missed out at Redcar back in November, and it is possible he was just lacking an edge when last seen finishing six lengths third behind Pride Of Donegal.

A return to this longer trip should hold no fears back on turf, and he can compete off the same mark as last time; while he’ll be sharper with that run under his belt following his return and no surprise if he were to show up well here.

5:45 Musselburgh — Sky Bet Price Boosts Handicap (Class 4, 7f)

Tip: ABDUCTION (Win)

While ABDUCTION isn’t the most reliable he might be worth sticking with on the back of his most recent success over C&D two weeks ago and the Acclamation gelding can double up for Jim Goldie if arriving in similar mood.

When he’s won he’s invariably thrown in a stinker next time so it is always a worry that might be the case again; but he won well latest when getting the better of Qazaq and reopposing Benacre by a head and half-length latest, and Shay Farmer’s 7lbs claim means he’ll be better off the weights with the latter now so in theory he should confirm that form.

Also a winner at Newcastle earlier in the year where he again beat Benacre, he remains below his highest winning rating despite his last-time victory and while he could just as easily bomb out this time he could still be worth chancing to still be in form.

6:15 Musselburgh — Sky Bet Build A Bet Handicap (Class 4, 2m)

Tip: ST FAZ (Win)

Three races in the space of 14 days might have been a step too much for ST FAZ, who can quickly get back on track here.

Adrian Keatley’s charge had won his three previous races following his switch from Gordon Elliott, registering victories at Southwell twice and Lingfield prior to running below his best back at Lingfield latest on All-weather Champions Day.

That run came just eight days on from his victory over Green Team at Southwell, and he carried a 5lbs penalty for the run. Slowly away, he was perhaps feeling his earlier exertions and he faded without ever really looking to get in contention and with a little more time between his races, he’s likely to be a bit fresher now.

A return to turf will present no issue and he could have more to offer on the flat from this sort of mark given he was rated much higher over jumps. He can bounce back from his lesser effort last time out.

6:45 Musselburgh — Sky Bet Extra Places Handicap (Class 4, 5f)

Tip: JER BATT (Win)

JER BATT hasn’t won for the thick end of two years, but David Barron’s charge can end that barren run here.

The Dragon Pulse gelding has been contesting in stronger grades than he finds himself in here, and he ran a series of solid races last campaign, finishing in the frame several times off significantly higher marks, including finishing third in valuable handicaps at Haydock, Doncaster and Chester.

He didn’t get the best of runs here in the Scottish Sprint Cup earlier in the month, hampered at the start and left poorly placed so that run can be forgiven. However it should have sharpened him up also for this latest outing and he can do better this time.

Dropped another 1lb in the weights he is now 3lbs below his last winning mark, while quicker ground to contend with here is no real worry and having his sights lowered can see him get back on the scoresheet here.
