Oscar Valentin to be carded vs Real Sociedad

Rayo Vallecano midfielder Oscar Valentin has made 56 tackles and committed 46 fouls in 17 starts this season, being in the top 5 in the league in both metrics. An opposition central midfielder has been booked against Real Sociedad in 11 of their 21 league games this season. Sociedad central midfielders Brais Mendez and Mikel Merino consistently draw fouls, and Valentin faced a tough task at the Reale Arena last season, being booked after committing 2 fouls. With referee Alejandro Hernandez having given 48 yellow cards and 4 red cards in La Liga this season, the second best average in the division, it seems likely that Valentin will add to his bookings tally this season.

Joao Ferreira to be carded vs Atalanta

Udinese defender Joao Ferreira has played in multiple positions this season, most recently cementing his place as the right centre back of a back 3. Ferreira started in this position in the reverse fixture against Atalanta earlier this season, being booked after committing 3 fouls. In his 12 starts in the league, Ferreira has been booked 6 times, 5 of which coming in his 9 starts at RCB, committing 14 fouls across those 9 games. His past career stats only generate more of an interest, considering that he was booked 4 times and sent off once across 8 sub appearances for Rio Ave last season, with his playing time totalling 152 minutes, committing 7 fouls – a foul every 22 minutes – over that period. The odds on offer for Ferreira to be carded are too big to ignore.

Wouter Burger to be carded vs Sunderland

Only 6 players in the Championship this season have received more bookings than Stoke captain Wouter Burger (8). Burger has made 67 tackles and committed 39 fouls in 23 league appearances (20 starts), and like Valentin above, is in the top 5 in the league in both metrics (average per game). In 15 of their 28 league games this season, an opposition central midfielder was booked against Sunderland. This includes the reverse fixture, when Burger was booked after committing 2 fouls, along with his midfield partner Pearson. Referee Andy Davies has given 61 yellow cards and 1 red card in 15 English league games this season.
