Nottingham Forest face Everton in the Premier League tonight and we have gathered the latest pundits’ predictions for the match, as well as making our own prediction for a correct score.
We have put together the predictions of Chris Sutton, Paul Merson and Jones Knows, as well as giving our own thoughts on the match. Forest will see this as a great chance to put some more space between themselves and the bottom three – Everton come into this one having not scored in three matches and without some of their best players.
Sean Dyche faces his old club with the threat of being dragged into the relegation fight still lingering. Forest are in 17th place in the table, five points ahead of 18th-placed West Ham. They’ve lost three of their last four matches now, including a 3-0 defeat to tonight’s opponents. However, Everton are without some of their star men for this game and looked a shadow of the side that beat Forest 3-0 in the 0-0 draw to Burnley. Gueye and Ndaiye are at AFCON, and Jack Grealish was injured – David Moyes will be praying he is back in the starting line-up for this one. Forest will be desperate for the points, but they might have to settle for one.
Chris Sutton’s Prediction for Nottingham Forest vs Everton
Everton beat Nottingham Forest comfortably at the start of December, but that was with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish in their team.
It’s possible Grealish is back from a virus to play in this game, but Dewsbury-Hall and Ndiaye will be much missed and we saw how much it affected Everton’s firepower when they played without all three of them in their draw at Burnley.
Forest were very good against Manchester City on Saturday and will feel they should have got something out of that game.
Sean Dyche was unhappy with City’s winner but, watching it back, you could see Morgan Gibbs-White hooked his leg around Nico O’Reilly and tried to drag him down with him, so it was good refereeing to suss that out and not give the foul to Forest.
Even so, it was an impressive Forest display. Because of that, and because of who Everton will be missing, I am backing Dyche to get the better of his old team this time.
Sutton’s prediction: 1-0
Paul Merson’s Prediction for Nottingham Forest vs Everton
Nottingham Forest are still down in 17th. I’ve always said they will avoid relegation and I stand by it. But one win for West Ham can put pressure on them, if they don’t start winning matches.
So this is a big game for Sean Dyche against his former club Everton. With Iliman Ndiaye away on AFCON duty, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall injured and Jack Grealish unwell, I expect Everton to struggle. If those three don’t play, Everton become toothless in attack.
Everton have failed to score in the last three games as well. I’m backing Forest to get a huge three points that will open up some breathing space between them and West Ham.
Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Everton
Jones Knows Prediction for Nottingham Forest vs Everton
Nottingham Forest may have fallen short in the end against Man City, but their centre-forward Igor Jesus left with an enhanced reputation and with two of Europe’s most accomplished defenders knowing they’d been in a proper fight.
Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, usually so serene in City’s defensive structure, spent much of the afternoon retreating, grappling and fouling – four times between them – as they struggled to contain Forest’s physical focal point. More of the same foul drawing numbers are expected up against the likes of James Tarkowski and Michael Keane who will approach the challenge of engaging with their usual meeting fire-with-fire style. The Brazilian striker is 11/8 with Sky Bet to be fouled at least twice.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-0
