John Stones will not travel to Stamford Bridge
Breezing their way to the Champions League knockout stage in midweek thanks to a 3-0 romp against Young Boys, Manchester City have only continued to shine over the past month. With many tipping Guardiola’s side as a landslide contender to make even more domestic history this season, the reigning European champions have won each of their previous five appearances across all competitions. However, with City not expecting midfield talisman Kevin De Bruyne to not make a return until the New Year, the former Barcelona boss has been hit with another major injury blow. Making the trip to fellow Premier League giants Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, Guardiola has confirmed that they will travel to west London without England international John Stones.“We’ll see when we come back from the international break.”

Guardiola offers a De Bruyne update
While the record-breaking Erling Haaland might be enjoying another Premier League romp this season, Manchester City have been without their midfield talisman over the past few months. Not making a single Premier League appearance since a 3-0 victory against Burnley on the opening weekend, it appears that De Bruyne still faces a lengthy stint on the sidelines. Undergoing surgery on a major hamstring injury, Guardiola has handed a detailed update on the 30-year-old’s current progress ahead of City’s trip to Chelsea this weekend.“Kevin De Bruyne feels good, but he’s not ready yet and we will not force his recovery. He’s not running yet.”
“These kind of injuries, it’s better not to put pressure. Next step only when both the doctors and Kevin feel it is the correct moment.”
