This page explains exactly what data the Thatsagoal Free Bet Finder Chrome extension does and does not handle.
Summary
The Free Bet Finder extension does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. Everything it does happens locally inside your own browser.
What the extension does
The extension reads the visible text of the webpage you are viewing to check whether it contains betting-related keywords (for example “free bet”, “accumulator”, “horse racing tips”). If it does, the extension displays a small badge in the bottom-right corner of the page showing one matching free bet offer from a curated list of UK bookmakers.
What we collect
Nothing. The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Your IP address or location
- Your browsing history or the URLs you visit
- The content of webpages you read
- Any data about how you interact with the badge
What is stored on your device
The extension stores one small piece of information locally in your own browser using chrome.storage.local:
- Dismissed websites. When you close the badge on a website, the extension remembers the website’s domain name and the time you dismissed it, so the badge does not reappear on that same website for the next 24 hours.
This data never leaves your browser. It is not uploaded to thatsagoal.com or any third party. You can clear it at any time using the “Reset dismissed sites” button in the extension’s toolbar popup, or by removing the extension.
How webpage text is used
To detect betting content, the extension reads the visible text of the page you are viewing and scans it locally for a list of betting keywords bundled with the extension. This scan happens entirely inside your own browser. The page text is never copied, sent, transmitted, or shared with anyone, including Thatsagoal.
Affiliate links
If you click “Claim Offer” on a badge, you will be taken to the bookmaker’s website via an affiliate tracking link. Thatsagoal may earn a commission from the bookmaker if you go on to register and place a bet. The bookmaker, not Thatsagoal, is responsible for any tracking or cookies that occur after you leave the badge and arrive at their site. Their privacy policy will apply at that point.
Permissions and why they are required
- storage — to remember when you dismiss the badge on a website (24-hour cooldown).
- activeTab and scripting — used only when you click the extension’s toolbar icon, so the popup can show whether a free bet is currently available on the tab you are viewing.
- Host permissions (all URLs) — required because betting content can appear on a wide variety of sites (sports news, blogs, forums, bookmaker reviews). The extension cannot know in advance which sites a user will read betting content on. Page text is only read locally and never transmitted.
Third parties
The extension does not load any remote code, scripts, fonts, or analytics. It has no third-party SDKs and does not communicate with any external server. The only network requests that happen are when you choose to click an offer’s “Claim Offer” link, which opens the bookmaker’s website in a new tab.
Children
The extension is intended for users aged 18 or over and surfaces UK gambling-related content. It must not be used by anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change is material — for example, if we ever introduce analytics or remote configuration — we will update the policy before deploying that change and publish a clear notice on this page.
