Lionel Messi and Argentina take on Egypt in the round of 16 as they hope to progress to the quarter-final and take a step closer to retaining their status as World Cup champions.
The Argentinians have been pretty faultless so far at this World Cup, winning four games from four, conceding only three goals. They were taken to extra-time by Cape Verde in the last round.
Egypt have won one and drawn three at the World Cup so far, with a draw in 90 minutes and extra-time against Australia on Friday, with the Egyptians winning 4-2 on penalties.
Kick-off is 5pm UK on Tuesday 7 July at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, live on ITV1 and ITVX.

Argentina to Win @ 2/5
It’s short odds, but I can’t see anything other than an Argentina win in this one. The holders have performed very well so far, and despite being taken to extra time by a heroic Cape Verde, they look like they can go all the way again this year. They’ve scored 11 goals in their four outings so far, conceding three. Egypt have won only one game in 90 minutes so far, and I think this will be the end of their journey against a very organised, energetic and frankly brilliant Argentina side.
Lionel Messi to Score @ 3/4
Messi has once again set the world stage alight, scoring seven goals in four matches. He’s the joint top scorer at the competition alongside Kylian Mbappé, and will have one eye on the golden boot. Egypt have conceded one goal in each of their games so far, and I think they’ll concede a couple here. If Argentina are to progress, I’d be shocked if Messi didn’t get himself on the scoresheet once more.
Over 6.5 Argentina Corners @ 2/1
Argentina will have the majority of possession here and create a lot of chances, so I think it’s fantastic odds at 2/1 for them to have more than 6.5 corners. They’ve had 17 corners in their four games so far, giving them an average of more than four corners per game. They had five corners last time out against Cape Verde, but I think this one will actually be more plain sailing for them, as I expect Egypt to be more attacking than Cape Verde were, giving Argentina more of a license to attack. 2/1 is good odds for them to have more than 6.5 corners in this one.
Cristian Romero Over 1.5 Fouls @ 10/11
Argentina’s central defender Cristian Romero is known for being aggressive in the tackle, and I think he’s likely to make at least a couple of fouls on Tuesday evening against Egypt. At this World Cup so far, the Spurs man had made a total of five fouls in three matches, an average of just under two fouls per game. Egypt have some tricky players, including Mo Salah, and they won’t make it easy for the likes of Romero. Taking him to be carded here brings the odds of this bet builder to 11/1 with Bet MGM.
Alternative Bet — Lionel Messi to Score 2+ at 10/3
Messi has scored in every game so far, with one in each of his last two games, a brace in his second and a hat trick in his first. Odds of 10/3 is really strong for him to score two or more in this one.
