Argentina take on Switzerland here in the quarter-final, with whoever wins taking on either England or Norway in the semi-final. Argentina are strong favourites to progress from this one, and you can see our bet builder tips below.
Argentina have won each of their World Cup games, scoring three in four of their matches. They came from 2-0 down to dramatically overcome Egypt in the last round, with three goals in the last 15 minutes of the game.
Switzerland beat Colombia on penalties in the last round, following a 0-0 draw. That draw was their second of the tournament, following a 1-1 in their group opener against Qatar.
Kick-off is 2am UK on Sunday 12 July (Saturday night late) at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, live on ITV1 and ITVX.
Argentina vs Switzerland Bet Builder — 10/1 with bet365

| Lionel Messi to Score | 19/20 |
| Granit Xhaka Over 1.5 Fouls | 1/1 |
| Cristian Romero Over 1.5 Fouls | 10/11 |

Argentina to Win @ 7/10
Argentina have scraped through their last couple of games, against Cape Verde and Egypt, but I think they’ve shown real resilience and strength as a unit to come through those matches. Both games ended 3-2, after they progressed through Group J with three wins and only one goal conceded. Switzerland haven’t been too convincing, but they have done well to reach the quarter-final, the furthest they have ever got in this competition. Argentina have won their last 12 matches, including friendlies, and I think they’ll come out on top again here.
Lionel Messi to Score @ 19/20
Messi already has eight goals in the World Cup, in only five matches. He bagged one last time out against Egypt, the goal that brought his side level. He’s the joint top scorer at the competition with Kylian Mbappe, having played one game less than the Frenchman. He has a huge 29 shots in those five matches, with 17 of them being on target. He will have a good amount of chances here, and I think 19/20 is good odds for him to bag another goal.
Granit Xhaka Over 1.5 Fouls @ 1/1
I think Granit Xhaka will have at least a couple of fouls in this one. The midfielder has been carded twice already in his five appearances so far, and this will be his hardest game so far. Coming up against Enzo Fernández, Rodrigo De Paul and Alexis Mac Allister, I think he will struggle, and be forced into a number of fouls as he tries to break up play for his side. Even money is good odds for him to have more than 1.5 fouls here.
Cristian Romero Over 1.5 Fouls @ 10/11
The second player I’m backing to make fouls here is Argentina defender Cristian Romero. At odds of 10/11, I think this is a very strong selection. The Spurs man has made a total of six fouls in his four appearances at the World Cup so far, picking up one yellow card. In the Prem last season, he made 32 fouls in 23 appearances, an average well above one foul per game. I don’t think it will be a backs-to-the-wall performance for him here, but I do think he will make more than 1.5 fouls.
Alternative Bet — Granit Xhaka to be Booked at 7/2
Taking Xhaka to be booked at odds of 7/2 is fantastic, considering he has picked up two cards at the competition already. Swapping two fouls for a card takes the odds of this bet builder to 25/1 with bet365.
