E. Buendía 2+ Fouls Drawn — 5 of His Last 6, 5/3

2, 3, 3, 2, 4 and 1 in his last six, at 2.69 per 90 across 1,240 minutes. Five of six drawing two or more is 83% and the price implies 60%.

Thirty-seven fouls drawn is the highest total in either squad, and he has been fouled in all six — so the floor is one rather than nought, which is what a 1.5 line wants. That consistency matters more here than the average.

Villa are 15% on the market and enter the final third 44.30 times a game, the lowest figure in our records. A side that counters rather than controls funnels possession through one player, and Buendía is that player. What beats it is Arsenal’s discipline: 10.35 fouls a game and 1.20 cards, both the lower figures, and our tackles and fouls prop bets page explains why the opposition’s habits weigh as heavily as the player’s.

D. Rice 3+ Tackles — 3 of His Last 6, 12/5

0, 4, 5, 1, 4 and 1 in his last six, at 2.09 per 90 across 1,678 minutes. Thirty-nine tackles is the highest total in either squad and three of six clearing three is 50% against an implied 29%.

The run is boom-or-bust rather than steady — two zeros and a one against two fours and a five — and that is precisely why the longer line is the value one. The 1.5 line at 4/5 implies 56% against the same 50% record, so the market has the shorter line about right and the longer one wrong.

With Saliba out until October, Timber until tomorrow and Ben White injured, Arsenal’s defensive shape leans harder on the midfield in front of it. What beats the leg is a comfortable evening — at 61% they may not need to work.

M. Lewis-Skelly 1+ Foul — 6 of His Last 6, 4/11

1, 2, 1, 1, 1 and 2 in his last six — a foul in every one, at 1.26 per 90 across 641 minutes. The price implies 73% against a perfect record.

It is short, and the edge is smaller than the other two. It is here because the floor is genuinely one and it is the leg least likely to cost the other two — a build needs one selection that does not depend on the match being open.

The 641 minutes are the honest caveat. That is squad-player territory on our own scale, and a full-back who does not start makes this worthless. His 2+ fouls drawn line at 6/5 is the better bet on the same player if you want the value rather than the floor, and it is a pointer above.

Why Three Legs and Not Four

Ollie Watkins at two shots on target is the strongest single selection on this page — 50% against an implied 27% at 11/4 — and it is not in the build because adding it would take the price past 40/1 on a fixture where three legs already compound to around 11/1.

That is a judgement rather than a rule. The alternative fourths do not survive the prices at all: Gyökeres at one shot on target implies 82% against a 17% record, Hincapié at two tackles implies 52% against 33%, McGinn at one foul drawn implies 92% against 67%. Our bet builder tips page sets out why we would rather publish three at real value.

Buendía and Rice both need the match contested. Lewis-Skelly does not, which is the point of including him.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal Prediction

We are predicting 0-1 to Arsenal. The market makes it 61.4% Arsenal, 23.5% the draw and 15.1% Villa, and that is the figure we are publishing.

Our model disagrees more sharply than on any fixture this season. Run on the records it gives Villa 39%, the draw 25% and Arsenal 37%, from expected goals of 1.48 and 1.43. That reading rests on Villa scoring 22 goals across eight home matches — 2.75 a game — while Arsenal have conceded 0.9 away.

A twenty-four point gap on the home side is the largest we have recorded, past Crystal Palace at twenty-two and Manchester United at twenty-one. All three involved a strong home figure from a small sample meeting a season’s worth of evidence about which side is better, and in all three the market is the better estimate. Arsenal kept 11 clean sheets in twenty and conceded three goals in ten at home. Compare UK bookmakers before you place it.
