What Is a Correct Score Bet?

A correct score bet requires you to predict the exact scoreline at full-time. If the score does not match your prediction precisely, the bet loses.

The difficulty is what makes the odds so attractive. A team that is 4/5 to win the match might be 9/2 to win 2-1 or 7/1 to win 2-0. The same outcome, expressed as an exact score, yields significantly better returns.

Correct score doubles – combining two score predictions into a single bet – can produce odds of 50/1 or more. A 55/1 correct score double we tipped previously (Tottenham 2-0 Everton and Chelsea vs Liverpool 1-1) returned £560 from a £10 bet.

Correct Score Double Tips

Our weekly correct score tip is a correct score double – two score predictions combined. Both must be correct for the bet to win.

The double format balances risk and reward. A single correct score at 6/1 gives decent odds. Two selections combined at 6/1 each produces roughly 48/1 – enough for a significant return on a small stake without needing three or four selections that are near-impossible to land.

If you want to extend the bet, you can add your own selection to create a treble, or use a Lucky 15 structure across four correct score selections to cover all the combination bets.

How to Pick Correct Score Bets

Our tipsters use form analysis, expected goals (xG) data and head-to-head records to identify the most likely scorelines. Key factors:

Team strength gap. The bigger the quality difference between the two sides, the more predictable the correct score. A top-four Premier League side against a relegation candidate is more likely to produce a clean, predictable scoreline than two mid-table sides.

xG data. Expected goals statistics show how many goals each team should score based on the quality of their chances, rather than just the actual goals. A team averaging 1.8 xG per game against a team conceding 1.5 xG per game points clearly towards certain scorelines.

Home vs away patterns. Some teams produce very consistent home scorelines. Others are defensively sound away from home. Identifying these patterns helps narrow the range of realistic scores.

Recent form. A team in poor form who have scored in only two of its last six games is less likely to feature in a 2-1 or 3-1 scoreline. Recent goals scored and conceded data narrows the pool of realistic outcomes.

Correct Score Betting Strategy

Correct score bets are high-risk by nature. One unexpected goal changes everything. The right approach keeps stakes small and uses the odds to your advantage.

Bet small. A £2-£5 stake on a correct score double at 40/1 returns £82-£205. There is no need to stake large amounts on markets this unpredictable.

Use free bets. Correct score bets are ideal for free bet tokens because the potential return is high, but you are not risking your own money. See the bookmaker offers above.

Singles are fine. If you like one specific score but are less confident about the second selection, there is nothing wrong with a single correct score bet at 6/1 or 7/1 rather than forcing a double.

Avoid large multiples. A correct score treble or four-fold might produce odds of 500/1 or more but the probability of landing three or four exact scores is extremely low. Most experienced bettors stick to singles and doubles.

Correct Score Odds Examples

To illustrate the improved odds available in the correct score market compared to the match result, here is a typical example from a Premier League fixture:

Match: Arsenal vs Wolves

MarketSelectionOdds
Match resultArsenal win2/5
Correct scoreArsenal 2-09/2
Correct scoreArsenal 2-18/1
Correct scoreArsenal 3-07/1
Correct scoreArsenal 3-110/1
Correct scoreArsenal 1-07/2

A £10 bet on Arsenal to win at 2/5 returns £14. A £10 bet on Arsenal 2-0 at 9/2 returns £55. Same outcome, dramatically better return.
