Saturday’s Football Tips – Three Predictions from the Football League for a 29/1 treble
Its never easy betting or ‘finding value’ on the first few weeks of the season due to a limited form book and clubs still finding their feet with incomplete transfer business still hanging over certain teams. But I’ve gone through all Saturday’s games and picked out 3 bets in the EFL that interest me the most.
This weekend’s Saturday football tips include a handicap bet from League One, a BTTS and win tip from the Championship and an away side to get all three points from their League One clash.
We’ve looked through all the major bookies and William Hill are best odds 29/1 (at the time of writing) for this bet, meaning a £10 bet returns £300.
The worst odds available are bet365 at 25/1.

Portsmouth to win (-1 handicap) vs Lincoln – 21/10
Pompey are a team that interests me every year and this year is no different. I think they’ve recruited well this summer and will be challenging more than ever this season. They’ve spent money on their forward line and that was rewarded with 3 goals at league 1 favourites Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
On the other hand I think Lincoln will struggle this season and it will be a difficult year for Mark Kennedy. They were friendless in the market last weekend at home to newly promoted Exeter and I just have bad vibes about them at the minute.
Pompey on the -1 handicap interests me here and I think they will kick off their home campaign with a convincing win. Colby Bishop getting off the mark last week was a great start and I can see Pompey carrying on from where they left off last week and notching a few goals here again.
Sheffield United to win and BTTS vs Millwall – 7/2
Even though they went down to Watford on match day 1, I can see Sheffield United bouncing back and kicking off their promotion push on Saturday. They’ve added James McAtee to their squad this week and although how much he participates in this game is questionable, they will be a more threatening team with his involvement.
Millwall are no pushovers though and had a perfect start to the season last weekend and currently sit top of the league, being only 1 of 2 teams to score more than one goal last weekend. How much their midweek cup defeat at Cambridge would have taken out of them is unknown, but I’m guessing it would have taken something out of them.
I fancy Millwall to score but just come away empty-handed and that’s why I’ve gone with a home win but with BTTS in this one.
Plymouth to beat Fleetwood – 23/20
I think Plymouth are one of the single, away winning bets of the weekend in the EFL. Disappointed to miss out on the playoffs on the last day of the season, they have to put that behind them as quickly as they can and I believe they have by having had a good pre-season and recruited well. Villa loanee Finn Azaz who starred for Newport in League Two last season didn’t take long to open his account at the next level at the first time of asking against a well-fancied Barnsley side last weekend.
Fleetwood would have been disappointed to let a lead slip last weekend at newly promoted Port Vale and I will need to be convinced of their appointment of Scott Brown. For all their possession they had at Vale Park they didn’t carry out much of a goal threat and that would worry me for now.
I believe Plymouth will carry that form into this weekend and I think the Pilgrims will be rewarded for the Mammoth 656-mile round trip to the seaside with 3 points.
