Watford vs Middlesbrough Bet Builder Tip – A 9/2 Prediction for an exciting Championship midweek clash

A full fixture list of Championship matches is almost upon us once more, and our attention turns to Tuesday’s televised match between Watford and Middlesbrough at Vicarage Road.

Watford will be disappointed to have lost their home game against QPR at the weekend, going down 3-2 to QPR. They twice fought back from behind in that one before R’s veteran Albert Adomah, formerly of Middlesbrough, scored a 70^th minute winner.

Middlesbrough on the other hand picked up their first win of the season, beating struggling Swansea City 2-1 at The Riverside. That will give them a lot of confidence coming into this one, but it will be a tough task this time around for them to achieve the same outcome.

I’ve picked out a 9/2 fancy for this one, I can see goals and one side coming away with all 3 points.

Watford to win

I’m predicting The Hornets to bounce back from defeat on the weekend and claim all three points on Tuesday evening.

Watford have had the better of the visitors in recent years. You have to go back to October 2012 which was the last time Boro beat Watford. In between then, Watford have emerged victorious in five of the previous nine head to heads between the two, with the points being shared on the other four occasions. Watford have lost some of their attacking firepower with Emmanuel Dennis joining Nottingham Forest and speculation of Joao Pedro leaving as well before the window closes this week. They do still have Ismaila Sarr though, and he will likely line up for them and cause the visitors problems all evening.

I still think Boro will be a decent side this year even after their slow start, but do expect Watford to have too much for them tomorrow evening.

I’m backing the home side to get all three points, but do expect Middlesbrough to score in the process. Both teams to score has landed in 50% of Watford’s matches this term, but staggeringly it has landed in 83% of Boro’s matches.

This stat proves that both sides are capable of scoring goals, but there is some defensive vulnerability in both ranks and therefore I expect the same outcome to occur on Tuesday evening.

Sarr would be my pick to bag for the home side, whilst versatile forward Duncan Watmore could be the man to net for the visitors. The pair are both 10/3 to net anytime, whilst the double for them both to score pays 18/1. I wouldn’t put you off a few quid on that either!
