Wolves v Fulham – BTTS Yes

Wolves surprised most people in the footballing world this week with the sale of Conor Coady to Everoto non a loan-to-buy deal; the St Helens-born defender has only missed three league games for the Wanderers since the start of their superb 2017/18 season in the Championship.

With Bruno Lage looking to switch from a 5-2-3 formation to a 4-3-3 system, his side are more vulnerable to goals being conceded as they adapt to his new ideas – which may throw young centre-backs Nathan Collins and Max Kilman under the bus in the process.

Meanwhile, Fulham showed they can score at the top table after their opening day 2-2 draw with Liverpool; but as with previous Premier League seasons, they did look shaky at the back against the Reds.

With both teams underdoing huge transitional periods, mistakes and misunderstandings are expected – and at 7/8, this is a bet that could well land within the first half.

Rotherham United v Reading – BTTS Yes

These two clubs were in almost every bookmakers’ favourites to be relegated from the Championship at the start of the season, and that could well prove to be true once again after the starts the duo have endured have failed to inspire defensively.

With Reading boasting (or not) the Championship’s joint-worst defence last season alongside relegated misfits Peterborough United, their incomings have yet to show any sign of that tally improving with the signings of 33-year-old Sam Hutchinson and untested Nesta Guinness-Walker being their only attempts.

Goals are capable of being scored by both outfits, and it is likely to be another goalscoring game between the two relegation candidates – a superb price at 6/7.

Accrington Stanley v Burton Albion – BTTS Yes

Goals always seem to pour at the WHAM Stadium for some reason, despite Accrington being renowned for being one of the more difficult sides to beat in the third tier.

70 per cent of their home ties last season resulted in both teams scoring, and that could occur again against a Burton side who conceded 1.78 goals per game away from home last campaign.

Burton also saw the most games of anyone with both teams to score in 2020/21, and with the Brewers conceding seven goals in two games so far, this seems a dead cert at 7/10.

Cheltenham Town v Portsmouth – BTTS Yes

Pompey have played out two draws in their opening two games; the first a thrilling 3-3 draw at Sheffield Wednesday, the second being a not-so-thrilling encounter in a 0-0 draw at home to Lincoln.

Yet their 2-0 win over Cardiff on Tuesday evening has shown that they can score goals against almost anyone, and with Cheltenham undergoing their own transition period at the moment that could happen again.

Watch out, though – Cheltenham did score twice against Peterborough on the opening day of the season, with the Posh expected to bounce straight back up. 3/4 is a tantalising offer for this one to finish with goals at either end.
