A bet builder is a same-game accumulator that lets you combine multiple markets from a single match into one bet — for example, Manchester City to win, both teams to score, two-plus cards, and Erling Haaland to score anytime. The combined odds are calculated as a single price, with the bet only paying out if every leg wins.
Below: the latest bet builder tips from our tipsters, how bet builders actually work, the markets you can combine, the best bookmakers for bet builders in 2026, and the strategy that separates good bet builders from clickbait long-odds gambles.

What is a Bet Builder?
A bet builder is a same-game multi — combining several outcomes from a single football match into one bet. Most UK bookmakers introduced the feature between 2017 and 2020, and it’s now one of the most popular betting products in the country.
Example bet builder for Liverpool vs Manchester City:
- Liverpool to win
- Both teams to score
- Over 2.5 goals
- Mohamed Salah to score anytime
- Two or more yellow cards in the match
Each individual selection has its own price. The bookmaker’s bet builder engine combines them into a single price — typically anywhere from 5/1 to 30/1 depending on how many legs and how correlated they are. Stake £10, win all five, and you collect at the combined price.
The catch: if any single leg loses, the entire bet loses. Bet builders are accumulators by another name — winning one means winning all of them.
Why they’re popular:
- Build a story for the match — back the way you think it’ll play out, not just one outcome
- Bigger potential returns than singles for the same stake
- More engaging — bet builders make every event in the match matter
- Available on most pre-match and in-play markets at the major UK bookmakers
The trade-off:
- The more legs you add, the more chances there are for something to go wrong
- Bookmaker margin is higher on bet builders than on singles — they take a slightly bigger cut
- Cash out values can be tight on multi-leg bet builders
How to Build a Bet Builder — Step by Step
The process is similar across all UK bookmakers offering the feature.
- Open the match you want to bet on in the football section of your chosen bookmaker
- Look for the “Bet Builder,” “Build a Bet” or “Same Game Multi” tab — usually near the top of the markets list
- Add selections one at a time — match result, both teams to score, total goals, player to score, cards, corners, shots
- As you add each selection, the combined odds update in real time at the bottom of the screen
- Add to bet slip and stake, then place the bet as normal
The combined odds are calculated by the bookmaker’s risk engine. Some legs are correlated (a match result of “home team to win” and “home team striker to score” both rely on the home team playing well, so the price will be lower than multiplying them naively). Other legs are independent (cards in a match are largely independent of the goalscorers), so the price is closer to the multiplied product of the individual prices.
Markets You Can Combine in a Bet Builder
Most UK bookmakers offer combinations across these markets:
Match result markets:
- Match result (1X2)
- Double chance
- Half-time/full-time
- Draw no bet
- Asian handicap
Goals markets:
- Both teams to score (BTTS)
- Total goals over/under (1.5, 2.5, 3.5)
- Exact total goals
- Correct score
- Half with most goals
Player markets:
- Anytime goalscorer
- First goalscorer
- Last goalscorer
- Player to score 2+
- Player to be carded
- Player shots on target
Discipline markets:
- Total cards over/under
- Team cards
- Sending off (yes/no)
- Player to be carded
Corner markets:
- Total corners over/under
- Team corners
- Race to X corners
Other:
- Penalty awarded (yes/no)
- Goal in both halves
- Clean sheet (either team)
- Win to nil
The depth varies between bookmakers. bet365 and BoyleSports offer the widest range; some smaller bookmakers offer only the basic match-result-plus-goals combinations.

Bet Builder Strategy — What Separates Good Bet Builders From Clickbait
The temptation with bet builders is to stack legs for the headline price. A 50/1 bet builder gets attention; a 5/1 bet builder doesn’t. This is exactly the wrong way to approach the format.
Better-quality bet builders follow some basic principles.
1. Correlation matters
The strongest bet builders combine selections that all rely on the same scenario playing out. If you back Liverpool to win at home, both teams to score, and Salah anytime goalscorer, those three legs all rely on the same broad story (Liverpool playing attacking football, scoring goals, and conceding at least once). They’re correlated — if one wins, the others are more likely to win too.
If you instead combine “Liverpool to win” with “0-0 at half-time” and “no cards in the match,” the legs are pulling in different directions. Each one independently makes the others harder.
The bookmaker’s risk engine accounts for correlation in the price, but punters often miss it when building.
2. Three to five legs is the sweet spot
More legs mean a longer price, but also exponentially more chances for something to go wrong. A 4-leg bet builder where each leg is 70% likely to win has a combined probability of about 24% (0.7⁴). A 6-leg bet builder where each leg is 70% likely to win has a combined probability of about 12%.
Doubling the number of legs roughly halves the chance of winning. The price doesn’t always double in compensation — the bookmaker’s margin compounds with each leg.
3. Avoid the “lottery ticket” trap
A 12-leg bet builder at 500/1 looks tempting, but in expected-value terms, it’s almost always worse than a 3-leg bet builder at 6/1. Long-shot bet builders are entertainment, not investment. If you’re staking real money to make a profit over time, fewer legs at meaningful prices is the structurally better approach.
4. Use research, not gut feel
The best legs for any bet builder come from actual data. Form across the last six matches. Head-to-head trends. Player-specific stats — fouls per game, shots per game, cards per game, goals per game. A bet builder built on “I’ve got a feeling Salah will score” is a guess. A bet builder built on “Salah has scored in 7 of his last 9 home matches and is up against the league’s leakiest defence away from home” has a basis.
Our daily bet builder tips (above) follow this approach — every leg is justified with form, stats and reasoning.
5. Cash out is your friend on multi-leg bet builders
When you’ve got most legs of a bet builder home and the final leg or two are still pending, partial cash out lets you lock in profit on the legs already won while leaving some upside on the remaining outcomes. It’s particularly valuable on 5+ leg bet builders where the final leg can swing the bet from a big winner to a total loss.
For the bookmakers with the strongest cash out features, see our Cash Out Betting Sites guide.
Common Bet Builder Mistakes
A few patterns that consistently lose punters’ money over time.
Stacking unrelated legs purely for the headline price. As above — long-odds bet builders look tempting but rarely justify the risk on a per-bet basis.
Ignoring the bookmaker’s margin. Bet builders carry a higher margin than singles. A 5-leg bet builder at “50/1” might genuinely be worth 70/1 in fair-odds terms, with the bookmaker keeping 20+ percentage points. The longer the bet builder, the bigger the margin slice. Compare odds across multiple bookmakers before placing.
Adding “obvious” short-priced legs that don’t change the price meaningfully. Adding “over 0.5 goals” to a bet builder rarely shifts the odds enough to justify the additional risk. If a leg adds less than 5-10% to the combined price, it’s adding more variance than value.
Building too many bet builders per matchday. Spreading bets across 6 different match bet builders each weekend means one or two might land — at the cost of the variance from the rest. Fewer, more carefully-built bet builders typically perform better than volume.
Chasing losses with bigger bet builders. Classic bankroll management failure. After a losing weekend, the temptation to claw it back with a 100/1 bet builder is strong — and structurally bad value. Stake size should be consistent regardless of recent results.

Bet Builder FAQs
What is a bet builder?
A bet builder is a same-game multi — a single bet combining multiple outcomes from one football match (for example, match result, both teams to score, and a player to score) into one bet at a combined price. All selected outcomes must occur for the bet to win.
How are bet builder odds calculated?
The bookmaker’s risk engine calculates a combined price based on each individual selection’s probability and the correlation between selections. Correlated legs (like “home team to win” and “home team striker to score”) will produce a tighter combined price than the maths of multiplying individual prices, because they’re more likely to both occur. Independent legs (like “match result” and “two or more cards”) produce a price closer to the multiplied product.
What’s the difference between a bet builder and an accumulator?
An accumulator combines selections from different matches into a single bet. A bet builder combines selections from one match into a single bet. The mechanic is the same (every leg must win), but bet builders use a single fixture while accumulators span multiple games.
Which bookmaker has the best bet builder?
bet365 has the deepest market coverage and is the strongest overall product. BoyleSports has the most generous bet builder promotion (their permanent Bet Builder Boost adds free value to qualifying bet builders). Betfred has the biggest welcome offer that can be used on bet builders. The right answer depends on what you value most — see the section above for our full breakdown.
Can I cash out a bet builder?
Yes — full and partial cash out is available on bet builders at most major UK bookmakers, including bet365, Betfred, BoyleSports, Coral, William Hill, Midnite, and SBK. Cash out values on multi-leg bet builders can be tight, but the option is there. For the strongest cash-out products, see our Cash Out Betting Sites guide.
How many legs should I include in a bet builder?
Three to five legs is the sweet spot for most bet builders. Each additional leg roughly proportionally reduces the chance of winning, while bookmaker’s margin compounds with each leg added. Long-shot 10+ leg bet builders are entertainment, not value.
Can I use a free bet on a bet builder?
Yes, at most major UK bookmakers. Some bookmakers (LiveScore Bet, Virgin Bet) actively split their welcome offers to ringfence credit specifically for bet builders. Others (bet365, Betfred) don’t restrict free bets to specific markets, so the credit works on bet builders without limitation.
What sports can I build bet builders on?
Football is the primary sport for bet builders, but most major UK bookmakers also offer bet builders on tennis, NFL, NBA, cricket, rugby and golf. The market depth on non-football bet builders is narrower, but the feature is expanding annually.
Are bet builder odds better at any bookmaker?
Bet builder margin varies between bookmakers. SBK (Smarkets-powered) tends to offer slightly sharper bet builder pricing because the underlying exchange model has tighter margins. bet365 and Betfred sit in the standard market range. Some smaller bookmakers carry heavier margin on bet builders. If a specific bet builder matters to you, compare prices across 2-3 bookmakers before placing.
Can I bet builder on in-play matches?
Yes. Most UK bookmakers offer in-play bet builder, though market depth is narrower than pre-match (some markets like correct score and exact goals are typically suspended once the match starts). bet365 and Midnite have the strongest in-play bet builder products.
Do you publish bet builder tips daily?
Yes. Our tipsters publish bet builder tips for the major Premier League and European fixtures throughout the week, with weekend coverage typically the most extensive. The latest tips are at the top of this page, and the full archive is at our Bet Builder Tips Archive.
