Panama vs England Match Preview
England are looking to get back to winning ways in match day three in the World Cup, following a 0-0 draw with Ghana last time out. The Three Lions are top of the group, above Ghana on goal difference, and will win it with a victory here.
Thomas Tuchel’s side will need to be much better going forward if they are to go deep into the competition. A win and a good performance in this one against Panama will give them confidence going into the round of 32.
Panama are already out of the competition after two games, having lost against Ghana and Croatia. They were both narrow, 1-0 defeats, however, and Ghana won the match in the 95th minute, so Panama are no mugs and will be looking to leave an impression on the world stage here.
England to Win @ 1/6
It’s extremely short odds, but I can only see an England win here. Thomas Tuchel’s side will be desperate to put on a better showing than they did last time out against the Ghanaians, and I think we will see exactly that. The Three Lions are unbeaten in 13 of their last 15 matches, losing only twice since the start of 2025. Their last competitive defeat came against Greece back in October 2024. Panama have won only three of their last 10, and I can’t see them getting anything here against a squad of elite players, all playing at the highest level. I think England will win this one comfortably.
Over 2.5 England Team Goals @ 3/4
I said I expect them to win comfortably, so with that will come plenty of goals for England. They managed four in their opening game against Croatia, before that 0-0 draw with Ghana in the second game. Panama are yet to concede more than one goal, but this will be their most difficult game, and with England’s outstanding front line, I think they will struggle. I expect England to score three or more in this one, and odds of 3/4 is decent for them to score over 2.5 goals in this one.
Jude Bellingham to Score or Assist @ 1/1
Jude Bellingham scored in that 4-2 victory over Croatia, and I think Evens is good odds for him to either score or assist against Panama. For Real Madrid last season, he bagged eight goals in all competitions, picking up six assists. We’ve seen him pressing forward to support the England attack so far at this World Cup, and I expect to see more of the same here. I think he will get a couple of chances, and there’s a decent chance he will take at least one of them, or set up one of his teammates to score.
Michael Murillo to be Booked @ 9/2
The player I’m backing for a card in this one is Panama right-back, Michael Murillo. The 30-year-old plies his trade with Besiktas in the Turkish top flight, and last season he picked up nine bookings in all competitions, both for Besiktas and for Marseille, where he played before making the switch to Turkey. In his two World Cup appearances so far, he has made four fouls, and he will be coming up against tough opponents such as Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford in this one, so I expect him to make at least a couple of fouls. I think 9/2 is good odds for him to pick up his first booking of the tournament.

- England virtually guaranteed Round of 32 progression — a win secures Group L top spot definitively
Alternative Bet — Bellingham to Score at 23/10 (Boosting Builder to 25/1 with Bet MGM)
Taking Bellingham just to score instead of to either score or assist is decent odds at 23/10. With that goal in the first game, he will be confident in front of goal, and I think there’s a good chance he could bag his second of the tournament. Taking this selection increases the odds of the bet builder to 25/1 with Bet MGM.
Two Live Offers for Panama vs England

The mechanic:
- Register a new Betfred account with code ENG50 before 22:00 UK on Saturday 27 June
- Deposit via Debit Card (other methods don’t qualify)

The win-or-lose floor: From a £1 qualifying stake, new customers walk away with at least £20 in Bet Builder Free Bets regardless of outcome — a +£19 net free bet position even in the worst-case scenario. If England win as expected, the return is +£49 in free bet value.
The headline 50/1 price compares to the standard England-to-beat-Panama market of approximately 1/4 across the UK market — roughly 40x the standard price for the qualifying stake.

BoyleSports — Kane Shot on Target in First Half Boosted to Evens (Standard: 4/11)
BoyleSports have boosted the Harry Kane Shot on Target in the First Half market from 4/11 to Evens (1/1) for Saturday’s fixture. A £10 stake at the standard 4/11 returns £3.64 profit; the same £10 at the boosted Evens returns £10 profit — a near-tripling of standard returns.
The mechanic:
- Available to online customers and in-shop BOYLE Xtra cardholders
- Singles only — applies to first 45 minutes plus first-half added time
- Maximum stake £10
- Prices subject to fluctuation and availability
The new customer stacking play: Open a new BoyleSports account, deposit £10+, and use the £10 boost stake at Evens AS the qualifying bet for the £40 welcome offer. The Evens (2.0) boost price exactly matches the welcome offer’s minimum Evens qualifying threshold. If Kane hits the target in the first half (most likely scenario), you win £10 profit on the boosted single AND receive £40 in free bets. Combined upside: up to £50 from a £10 stake.
The form argument for Kane SOT 1H:
- Kane registered multiple shots on target in the first half against Croatia (he scored 2 goals across that match)
- Panama have conceded in both group games, struggling defensively against modest attacking outputs
- Tuchel sets England up to press from the first whistle — creating territorial dominance from the opening minutes
- Kane’s career first-half shot-on-target rate is high against most opposition; against Panama’s defensive frailty, the implied 50% probability of Evens looks well short of true probability (likely 60-65%)
