The semi-final is upon us with the top four teams in the FIFA World Ranking left to battle it out for the World Cup — Argentina, France, Spain and England. First up, it’s France vs Spain on Tuesday evening.
France have been incredible so far at this competition, and are the second highest scorers behind Argentina, scoring 16 goals in their six matches.
Spain have also performed very well, winning five of their six games, scoring 11 and conceding only one — in their last outing against Belgium. It’ll be hard for them to keep France’s front line at bay here, however.

France have won all six of their matches at this World Cup so far, and although I think this will be their toughest matchup so far, I think they’ll overcome Spain, and are fantastic odds to do so. Having scored 16 and conceded only two, they have run riot so far, with their toughest match yet coming against a very physical Paraguay side, whom they defeated 1-0 thanks to an Mbappé penalty. Spain have been very good after their 0-0 draw with Cape Verde in their first game of the competition. I expect them to give France a good game here, but I think they’ll crash out against Didier Deschamps’ side.
Both Teams to Score @ 7/10
I think both teams to score is a great bet in this one. Although France have conceded only two, and Spain just the one, I do think they’ll both manage to breach each other’s defences on Tuesday. Both sides possess incredible attacking flair, with Mbappé, Dembele and Olise on fire for France, and the likes of Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal firing for Spain. The last time these two met, Spain ran out 5-4 winners in a nine-goal thriller in the Nations League semi-final in June 2025. Both teams also scored in their previous two meetings, and I think that will happen again here.
Kylian Mbappé Over 1.5 Shots on Target @ 4/5
Kylian Mbappé is the first of two players I’m backing to have a couple of shots on target in this one. The Real Madrid front man has bagged eight goals already at the competition, the joint top scorer alongside Lionel Messi. In six outings, he has had a massive 30 shots, with 19 of them being on target — an average of more than three shots on target per game. I think there’s a great chance that he will have two or more shots on target here.
Lamine Yamal Over 1.5 Shots on Target @ 7/4
Spanish superstar Lamine Yamal is the second player I’ve taken to have a couple of shots on target here. He had a total of six shots last time out against Belgium, with two on target. That takes him to a total of 10 shots on target in his six outings so far, an average just shy of two per game. Both sides will be fairly open defensively here, and I expect an end-to-end encounter. Yamal will be in the thick of it for Spain going forward, and I expect him to have two or more shots on target.
Alternative Bet – Kylian Mbappé to Score at 6/5
Taking Mbappe to score here, instead of having more than 1.5 shots on target, increases the odds of this bet builder narrowly to 14/1. He’s scored more than one goal per game on average, and France will have a good amount of chances here. He’s good odds to score at 6/5.
