Tromsø vs Brighton Prediction

Our model gives Brighton 52%, the draw 27% and Tromsø 22%, from expected goals of 0.85 to 1.47. Under 3.5 goals is the strongest number on the page at 85%, and both teams to score comes out at 44%.

Brighton are the only Premier League club in this season’s Conference League, and a reader will assume that settles the tie. Their record does not support the assumption. They have won eight of their last twenty, scored 1.30 goals a game, and gone over 3.5 goals in only three matches — the lowest rate of any side in our data.

Tromsø are the better side on their own record: twelve wins from twenty, nine clean sheets, and 1.90 scored against 0.70 conceded at home. They also make 72.95 final third entries a game to Brighton’s 56.50 despite having less of the ball, and waste far less of what they create — 0.70 big chances missed a game against Brighton’s 1.70.

The league gap is what makes Brighton favourites, and it is doing all the work. Norway carries a UEFA coefficient of 19.625 against England’s 52.089 — a raw ratio of 2.65, the widest of any tie this week. Without that adjustment Tromsø’s raw figures would make them the stronger side.

Tromsø vs Brighton Betting Tips

1. Under 3.5 Goals. This has landed in 17 of Brighton’s last 20 matches, the highest single figure on any of our pages this week. They have scored more than twice in only three matches all season.

2. Under 2.5 Goals. Eleven of Brighton’s last 20 and 10 of Tromsø’s. Tromsø have kept nine clean sheets and concede 0.70 a game at home, and neither side scores freely.

3. Both Teams to Score — No. Both sides have failed to score in five of their last twenty, and both teams have scored in only 40% of Tromsø’s matches and 45% of Brighton’s.

Tromsø vs Brighton Team News

Tromsø are without Leo Cornic, Viktor Ekblom and Jesper Grundt through injury and Alexander Warneryd through suspension, with goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard and Vetle Skjærvik both doubtful.

Brighton are missing Yankuba Minteh until November and Evan Ferguson until October, along with Zadok Yohanna. Matt O’Riley is ill and Carlos Baleba carries an ankle injury with a return date of 21 August — the day after this match.

Tromsø vs Brighton Corners and Cards

Corners are close and not worth a price. Tromsø take 5.15 a game to Brighton’s 4.90, with first-half figures within 0.10 of each other.

Cards divide the two sides more clearly. Brighton’s matches produce 4.15 across both teams to Tromsø’s 2.65, and Brighton collect 2.10 themselves against 1.25. Combined that is around 3.40, so over 3.5 cards sits at roughly 45% — marginal rather than a bet.

The red card market is dead here, which is worth knowing given how live it is elsewhere this week. Brighton’s matches have produced no red cards at all across their last twenty and Tromsø’s one, against eleven in Hearts’ fixtures and nine in LASK’s.

The referee cannot help settle it. Edgars Malcevs has taken charge of only six career matches, against 432 for the official at Slovan Bratislava this week and 407 at Gent. His average of 4.50 yellows is drawn from 27 bookings in total, and one heavy game would move it by half a card. We have left it out of the comparison rather than present it alongside figures built on hundreds of matches.
