  • 4 of 6 for Jacob Greaves making three tackles or more, at 7/2 — that is 67% against an implied 22%, the widest gap on the page.
  • 3 of 6 for Azor Matusiwa making two tackles, priced at 1/6 — an implied 86% against 50%, the clearest trap.
  • 2.35 own cards a game for Ipswich against United’s 1.70, and 4.65 cards a match against 3.35 — the widest card gap between two sides this weekend.
  • 2.90 cards a game for Craig Pawson last season across 21 matches, against 4.68 and 4.58 in the two before it. A fall of 1.78 in a year, and the sharpest trend in our card tips data.

J. Greaves 3+ Tackles — 4 of His Last 6, 7/2

Three, two, three, three, one and four in his last six, at 1.76 per 90 across 1,227 minutes. Four of six clearing three is 67% and the price implies 22% — the widest gap between a record and a price we have found this weekend.

He played all six in full, so there is no rotation buried in the sequence and no short appearance flattering the average. That matters more than the per-90, which at 1.76 looks unremarkable for a centre-back.

The fixture does the rest. Ipswich are 13% on the market and held 54.7% of the ball in the Championship — they will have nothing like that at Old Trafford against a side taking 15.55 shots a game. Our tackles and fouls prop bets page explains why a defender’s line is worth more when his side is about to be pinned back.

Ipswich Over 3.5 Team Corners — 5.75 a Game, 11/5

Ipswich took 5.75 corners a match last season with 3.05 of them before the break, and they enter the final third 63.60 times a game — more often than United manage at 55.20.

On the raw figure this line clears about 83% of the time. That figure is a Championship one and it will not survive the step up intact, so the honest version is to regress it hard: at four corners a game rather than 5.75 it still lands around 57%, against an implied 45%.

What beats it is the shape of the afternoon rather than the record. A side priced at 13% spends most of the match without the ball, and corners need territory. Set against that, United clear 23.05 times a game and Ipswich put in 4.80 accurate crosses — the ball will go into the box even when the possession does not justify it. Our corner predictions page covers the same fixture at the match line, which we make a poorer bet than this one.

M. Cunha 1+ Shot on Target — 6 of His Last 6, 2/7

One, one, one, one, one and two — on target in every one of his last six, at 1.12 per 90 across 1,371 minutes. The only player in either squad with a clean sweep across the run.

The price implies 78% and a perfect six is not a guarantee of a seventh, so the edge here is smaller than the numbers suggest. It is in the build because it is the one United certainty on an afternoon where Šeško is a doubt and the team sheet has questions.

The 1.5 line is the trap version. It pays 5/4, implies 44%, and he has cleared two once in six — he hits one and stops, which is exactly the shape a 0.5 line wants and a 1.5 line punishes. Our shots on target prop bets page is built around that distinction.

Why Three Legs and Not Four

The fourth would have been worse than the three above it, and on this page the alternatives are unusually poor.

Azor Matusiwa at two tackles implies 86% against a record of three in six. Matheus Cunha at two shots on target implies 44% against one in six. Kasey McAteer at two fouls implies 58% against one in six. All three are the same mistake — the market pricing a season average where the recent run says something different.

Jacob Greaves at two tackles is the one genuine alternative at 5/4 on an 83% record, but it shares a market group with his own three-tackle line. It is a pointer above instead, and it is the version to take if you want a firmer floor at a shorter price. Our bet builder tips page sets out why we would rather publish three.

Two of the three need Ipswich defending and one needs United attacking, which on a fixture priced 67.5% to the home side is the same afternoon described twice.

Man United vs Ipswich Prediction

We are predicting 2-0 to Manchester United. The market makes it 67.5% United, 19.5% the draw and 13.0% Ipswich, and that is the figure we are publishing.

Our own model disagrees sharply and it is worth explaining why. Run on the records it gives United 43%, the draw 24% and Ipswich 34%, from expected goals of 1.67 and 1.45. Ipswich scored 1.73 a game away from home and conceded 1.55, and they blanked twice in twenty — the same count as United.

Those are Championship figures. The gap between our 34% and the market’s 13% is twenty-one points, and on a promoted side facing a top-four one it is the market that has the better information. Ipswich have also lost Azón, Neil and Hirst since the sample was recorded and replaced them with €178m of players we have never measured. Compare UK bookmakers before you place it.
