In years gone by, not many would bet against Manchester United. However, they are amid a difficult campaign under Erik Ten Hag, and I don’t think they’ll pick up three points at Goodison Park this weekend. United have won just two of their last five in all competition, two 1-0 wins over Fulham and Luton, and have lost five league games already this season. Everton are also going through a difficult time, having just received a 10-point deduction because of being guilty of a breach of financial fair play in relation to their new stadium. This leaves them on just four points and at 19^th in the table. That said, I think this could turn into a positive on the park for the Toffees, as they will be determined to climb out of the relegation zone at their earliest opportunity. They have won four games so far this season and have lost just one of their last five in the league, winning three, drawing one and losing one. I don’t think they will be beaten this weekend, and a double chance of Everton or draw is a good value bet.

I think both teams to score is a solid bet in this fixture. United have scored in 14 of their 18 competitive fixtures this season, while the Toffees have scored in 10 of their 15 matches played. Everton have scored eight in five, and United have scored five in five, including three on the road against Copenhagen, although they lost that one 4-3. United will be keen to solidify their place in the top six, with Everton keen to escape the relegation zone. Both teams to score is a good bet in this one.

 

Abdoulaye Doucoure to be booked

In his 12 appearances in the Premier League this season, Abdoulaye Doucoure has picked up three yellow cards. He has made a massive 22 fouls in the league this season, an average of almost two fouls per game. Going on stats alone, he is a great shout for a card, but this selection has more behind it that stats alone. Doucoure will be coming up against a Manchester United midfield posing great physicality and will drift out to defend in wide areas while United are on the front foot, leaving him exposed to 1 v1 battles with United’s wide players. He will be forced into a number of fouls here as his team rely on him to break down play, and I think he may be shown a card as a result.
