BetGoodwin will refund the win part of your losing stake as a free bet if your horse finishes second, beaten half a length, in a UK or Irish chase.
It is a neat bit of insurance for each-way and win punters on the jumps: back a runner in a chase, watch it go down by the narrowest of official margins, and you get your stake back as a free bet worth up to £100. Here is exactly how the offer works and how to claim it.

How the BetGoodwin Horse Racing Refund Works
If you place a win or each-way single on any UK or Irish chase and your selection finishes second, beaten by the official distance of half a length, BetGoodwin refund the win part of your losing stake as a free bet. It applies to chases specifically – not hurdles or the Flat – and only when the official winning distance is a half-length. Get caught by that margin and the win part of your stake comes back as a free bet, up to a maximum of €/£100 per customer per race. On an each-way bet, it is the win part of the stake that is refunded, so a £10 each-way runner beaten half a length returns the £10 win portion as a free bet.

How to Claim
- Open or log in to your BetGoodwin account and head to the UK or Irish racing.
- Place a win or each-way single of at least €/£10 win or €/£10 each-way on a chase, with cash (not a free bet).
- If your horse finishes second, beaten half a length, BetGoodwin refund the win part of your stake as a free bet automatically.
- Use the free bet within 24 hours – it is credited within 24 hours of the race and expires 24 hours after that.
An Example
Say you back a horse win-only for £20 in a UK chase and it is beaten half a length into second. Because the official winning distance is a half-length, BetGoodwin refund your £20 win stake as a free bet (up to the €/£100 cap). If you had gone in each-way at £10 each-way, the win part – £10 – would come back as the free bet. Either way, a desperately narrow defeat turns into another shot rather than a torn-up slip.
