What is the NAP for Sunday’s ITV Racing?

Our NAP is Avec Toi in the 13:09 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp. Christopher Head’s unbeaten colt is 4-4 and steps up to Group 1 company for the first time with the profile of a horse still improving. He’s proven versatile on different ground, including soft, so conditions won’t be an issue — the one we’re most confident about across the afternoon.

13:09 Longchamp — Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (Group 1, 7f): Avec Toi (NAP)

Our NAP. Unbeaten Avec Toi can make the most of his step up to Group 1 company for the first time and stay undefeated. The No Nay Never colt is already 4-4, most recently showing a gutsy attitude to hold off reopposing Imperial Strike over course and distance in the Group 3 Prix La Rochette. He had previously beaten a subsequent Group 3 winner at Deauville, and that latest victory has thrown up a next-time winner too, so the form looks very solid — and he’s open to plenty more improvement. Proven on soft ground, he’ll have no issue with conditions and is a big player to extend his unbeaten run.

13:47 Longchamp — Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp (Group 1, 5f): Time For Sandals

Time For Sandals is winless this term and her form has been hot and cold, but Harry Eustace’s filly is worth sticking with in what looks an ordinary renewal. The Sands Of Mali filly has run a couple of good races this season, making the frame at both Goodwood and York, but she’s been largely disappointing either side of those efforts — her latest at the Curragh saw her well beaten behind Comanche Brave. Like several of these rivals she has something to prove, but she’ll handle conditions fine, and if she can reproduce either her Goodwood or York level she can go close.

14:25 Longchamp — Qatar Arabian World Cup (Group 1, 1m2f): HM Alchahine

There’s precious little form to judge in these Arabian-bred contests, so HM Alchahine is taken to win on the strength of what he’s already achieved. He has landed two Group 1 races this term, including over course and distance when beating Geneva by four lengths. He faces similar underfoot conditions today, and with little known about most of his rivals he looks the safest option in the race.

15:05 Longchamp — Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Group 1, 1m4f): Minnie Hauk (each-way)

At a big price, Minnie Hauk could feature again despite a frustrating season — the Frankel filly ran well in this twelve months ago and could repeat the dose, so she’s our each-way angle in the feature. She enjoyed a fruitful three-year-old campaign, winning four times including the Oaks Treble, and was beaten only a head in this by reopposing Daryz before a disappointing Breeders’ Cup run. After kicking off this season with a Group 2 win at the Curragh, she’s winless in four since, beaten the last twice by Kalpana — who also turns out here — most recently by around two lengths in the Yorkshire Oaks, outpaced but running on. While she isn’t winning, she’s still performing to a decent level, and William Buick’s booking to end that losing streak could prove inspired. Recapture her Arc form of a year ago and another big effort wouldn’t be a surprise — each-way makes the sense of it at the price.
