Liverpool vs Chelsea bet builder tips

Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime as the Reds look to pull clear of Aston Villa in fourth and Chelsea try to halt a six-match Premier League losing run that’s dropped them to ninth. It’s the basis for a 12/1 bet builder combining Liverpool’s home form, the goalscoring patterns of both sides, Cody Gakpo’s shot output and Moises Caicedo’s relentless booking record. Here’s the full preview and tips.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Match Preview

Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield this weekend as the Reds look to pull away from Aston Villa and become comfortable in fourth place in the league. Chelsea are ninth, and will be keen to avoid a bottom half finish.

Liverpool have won six of their last 10 in the Premier League, but were defeated 3-2 by rivals Manchester United last time out. They have won four of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Chelsea have had a slump in form, which has found them slipping down into ninth. They have lost six on the bounce in the Premier League, winning only one of their last 10 league matches. They’ve won two of their last 10 in all competitions, with wins over Port Vale and Leeds in the FA Cup.

This is one of the standout fixtures across the Premier League weekend and a clash where both Chris Sutton and Paul Merson are backing the Liverpool win, while Jones Knows’ best bet is Liverpool to win and over 2.5 goals.

The Tips

BEST BET BUILDER TIP — Liverpool to win @ 7/8

I think Liverpool will win this one at home, as they are in considerably better form than Chelsea, despite not being great themselves. Chelsea have won only five of their 16 Premier League matches in 2026, and are winless in the league since defeating Aston Villa over two months ago. Liverpool lost last time out, but defeated Palace comfortably the week before, following a Merseyside derby victory over Everton away from home. I think the Reds will come out on top this weekend, piling more misery on Chelsea.

Both teams to score — 4/9

Although I think Liverpool will win, they haven’t been great defensively of late. They’ve conceded in eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions, shipping 15 goals in that time, with both teams scoring on five occasions. Chelsea have scored in four of their last 10 in all competitions. In the last five meetings between these two, both teams have scored four times, with Liverpool winning on three occasions. I expect that to happen this Saturday.

Cody Gakpo over 0.5 shots on target — 4/7

Dutch striker Cody Gakpo has had a decent season. He has bagged nine goals in all competitions, seven of which have been in the Premier League, with a further two in the Champions League. In his 33 league outings so far this campaign, he has had a total of 21 shots on target, an average well above 0.5 per game. He scored last week in that defeat to Manchester United, and I think there’s a good chance he will have at least one shot on target in this one.

ALTERNATIVE BET — Cody Gakpo to score @ 2/1

Taking Cody Gakpo to make it two goals in two games is decent odds at 2/1. Swapping a shot on target for a goal increases the odds of this bet builder to 18/1 with bet365 — a stronger return for those willing to take the additional risk on the goalscoring market rather than the shots on target market.

Moises Caicedo to be booked — 9/4

Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo is the man I’m backing for a booking this weekend. The midfielder has picked up 16 bookings in all competitions this season, with 11 yellows and one red in the Premier League, and the other four coming in the cup competitions. He has made a total of 45 fouls in his 30 league appearances so far this season, giving him an average of exactly 1.5 fouls per game. It’ll be a tough game for him this weekend, and I expect him to make a couple of fouls at least. He’s good odds for another booking this weekend at odds of 9/4.

Combined Bet Builder Odds — 12/1

Pulling the four selections together gives a 12/1 bet builder. £10 returns £130. £5 returns £65.

The bet works because the four selections complement each other rather than fight for the same outcome:

  • Liverpool needing the home win against a struggling Chelsea (anchor)
  • Both sides scoring fits Liverpool’s leaky defensive run plus Chelsea’s need to push for goals
  • Liverpool dominating possession in Chelsea’s half feeds Gakpo’s shot output naturally
  • A scrappy, must-win-feeling fixture for Chelsea pulls Caicedo into the high-foul, high-card territory he occupies most matches

The 12/1 price reflects the booking market’s volatility — Caicedo bookings aren’t guaranteed even given his record — but the underlying logic of the four legs is consistent. For bet builder help, see our daily bet builder hub.
