Arsenal vs Newcastle Predictions
Despite Arsenal being favourites, I’m backing Newcastle to take the three points in London this Sunday. Eddie Howe’s side have won eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions, with just one defeat in their last 10 in the Premier League. They have won 20 of their 36 games in the league this season, with six draws and 10 defeats in that time. Arsenal are winless in five, and with second in their sights, I think Newcastle have a good chance of winning here.
That said, Arsenal will have a lot of chances, and I think their star man, Bukayo Saka, will have at least one shot on target. He has 12 goals to his name in all competitions this season, with six in the league and six in the Champions League. In his 23 league appearances this campaign, he has had 22 shots on target, falling just shy of that one per game average. He’s involved in a lot of Arsenal’s positive play, and I think there’s a great chance he will have at least one shot on target here.
We’re backing two players to be booked, Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle and Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly. Bruno Guimaraes has been booked 12 times this season, with seven yellow cards in the league, three in the Carabao Cup and two in the Champions League. He has made a massive 59 fouls in his 36 league appearances this season, giving him an average not far off two per game. Myles Lewis-Skelly has picked up six yellow cards in 36 appearances in all competitions this season, also picking up two red cards, totalling eight bookings. He has had three yellows and two reds in the league, two yellows in the Champions League and one in the Carabao Cup. I think both players are great odds for a booking here.
