Brighton stadium

Liverpool travel to the seaside this Saturday as they take on Brighton in the Premier League. The Reds are fifth in the Premier League, while Brighton sit in 12th place.

Brighton have won three of their last five matches in the Premier League, with two defeats in their other two. In their last 10 in all competitions, they have won only three matches, so have had a fairly poor run, despite somewhat picking up of late.

Liverpool come into this off the back of a 4-0 victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League, and have won six of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

BEST BET BUILDER TIP – Liverpool to win @ 5/4

5/4 is great odds for Liverpool to win on the road this weekend. Arne Slot’s side will be high on confidence after dismantling Galatasaray at Anfield on Wednesday evening 4-0, and I expect them to bring that form into this one. They are unbeaten in seven of their last 10 Premier League matches, and defeated Brighton 3-0 in the FA Cup just over a month ago. Brighton have won only three of their last 10 in the Premier League, with four defeats and three draws in that time. I think Liverpool will have more than enough to win this weekend.

Dominik Szoboszlai over 0.5 shots on target (4/5)

Dominik Szoboszlai has had a decent return of goals this season for a central midfielder. He has bagged 12 goals in all competitions this season, with five in the Premier League, five in the Champions League, including one last time out against Galatasaray, and two in the FA Cup. In the league, he has had 19 shots on target in 28 appearances, with 14 on target in 10 Champions League outings. Liverpool will have plenty of the ball here, and I think he’s very decent odds to have one or more shots on target in this one.

ALTERNATIVE BET – Dominik Szoboszlai to score @ 19/5

It’s an outside bet, but having scored last time out, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the scoresheet again. Taking him for a goal at 19/6 boosts the odds of this bet builder to 35/1.

Danny Welbeck over 0.5 shots on target (4/5)

Brighton frontman Danny Welbeck is another player who is good odds for a shot on target at 4/5. The veteran striker has scored 11 goals this season, with 10 in the Premier League and one in the FA Cup. The 35-year-old has had a total of 40 shots, with 17 on target in his 29 league appearances so far this term. I don’t expect Brighton to create a bucket load of chances, but Welbeck is a deadly striker, and given half a chance I think he will have at least one shot on target.

Mats Wieffer to be booked (23/10)

Brighton full back Mats Wieffer is the man I’m taking for a card at odds of 23/10. The Dutchman has picked up six Premier League bookings in his 20 appearance so far this season, making a

total of 25 fouls, an average of more than one foul per game. Coming up against a fast and tricky Liverpool attacking line, he will be in for a tough 90 minutes, and I expect him to make a couple of fouls at least. He’s good odds to pick up his seventh booking of the season this weekend.
