Irish Open Golf Betting Tips for this Week – Win and Each-Way Selections

It’s Irish Open week on the European Tour as we head to Galgorm Castle Golf Club for this years renewal. Home favourite Shane Lowry is the market leader at around the 7/1 mark.

Irish Open 2020 Golf Betting Tips

My first selection is JOAKIM LAGERGREN 30/1 (Paddy Power 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). Lagergren consists of the two main things I like to look for within my golf bets, current form and course form. Lagergren finished third in Portugal on his last start two weeks ago and it was encouraging to see the quality shots he was hitting into the closing holes to suggest his confidence was high. He is the type of the player that tends to play good golf for a few weeks before fading off and I believe he is currently in one of his positive spells. He is a previous winner at this course which is a fantastic boost too and he has a fine record in the UK and Irish shores over the years. Good bet this week.

 

JACK SENIOR 35/1

Next up for me is JACK SENIOR 35/1 (Paddy Power 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). Senior is another who has the potent combination of recent form and course form and he deserves to enter calculations this week. Senior has had a fine UK swing over the last few weeks showing numerous times he’s ready to challenge for titles at this level. He knows how to win as he proved many times on the Challenge Tour and that includes a victory on this course last year. Very similar to Lagergren as he plays his best stuff on the UK and Irish shores a lot of the time.

 

JOHANNES VEERMAN 40/1

My next selection is JOHANNES VEERMAN 40/1 (Paddy Power 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). This youngster is a serious talent and has been playing solid golf over the last few weeks which his results improving all the time. He played well in Portugal where he was paired with Tommy Fleetwood on the final day. He went toe to toe with Fleetwood for the majority of that round and I think that will have gave him a lot of confidence. Recent American friend Jon Catlin has recently won and I’m sure that will only inspire Vermann that he can also join the winners circle. This course should suit and I expect a good performance this week.

CORMAC SHARVIN 90/1

First up is CORMAC SHARVIN 100/1 (Betfred 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7). A name not familiar to many but I believe it will be soon. Another player with a fine pedigree on the below tours and he has handled himself well on his debut European Tour season. Being from Northern Ireland he will relish the challenge this week and he’s shown enough in recent weeks for him to be included at a big price.

 

DAAN HUIZING 200/1

My next selection is DAAN HUIZING 200/1 (Sky Bet 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). Don’t get me wrong his recent form isn’t great which is a slight concern but I don’t believe his game is far away from a decent showing. Huizing has won at this venue in the past and a return to a course he’s already won on could help give him that little bit of confidence he needs to show the golfing world what he is capable of. Small stakes but in a weak field at 200/1 I’m happy to chance him here.

 

 STEVEN TILEY 750/1

Also going to have a very small stakes on STEVEN TILEY 750/1 (Bet365 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 or 500/1 Paddy Power 8 places) Tiley has some strong form on the Irish shores over the last few years and has shown decent form on similar layouts that read well in line with this week. A previous winner in Ireland I’m happy to have a small stake on him here despite his poor recent form.
