Arsenal welcome already-relegated Burnley to the Emirates on Monday night at 8pm. A win keeps Mikel Arteta’s side’s title fate in their own hands, with Manchester City still having two games to play.
All three of the expert pundit panel — Chris Sutton, Paul Merson and Jones Knows — back Arsenal to win, though they differ on the scoreline. Here’s what each pundit predicts.

Pundit Predictions Summary — Arsenal vs Burnley
| Pundit | Prediction |
|---|---|
| Chris Sutton | 3-0 Arsenal |
| Paul Merson | 3-0 Arsenal |
| Jones Knows | 4-0 Arsenal |
All three pundits back Arsenal to win comfortably with a clean sheet. The disagreement is purely on goal volume — Sutton and Merson both go for three goals, while Jones Knows expects Arsenal to push for four.
Chris Sutton’s Arsenal vs Burnley Prediction — 3-0 Arsenal
Sutton backs Arsenal to wrap up a comfortable title-race result at the Emirates. He notes that the Gunners cannot afford to slip up at this stage — Manchester City still have two games to play, and Arsenal need every point on the board to keep their title destiny in their own hands.
Sutton expects a comfortable evening for Arsenal. The home crowd will be nervous until they score, but Mikel Arteta’s side should make an early breakthrough. As much as Burnley are still scrapping — which they showed with their draw against Aston Villa last week — they have frustrated their own supporters much more than they have frustrated the opposition this season.
Arsenal are a much better team, Sutton argues, and whether the goals come from a set-play or open play, they will have too much for Burnley.
Sutton’s prediction: 3-0 Arsenal

Paul Merson’s Arsenal vs Burnley Prediction — 3-0 Arsenal
Merson backs Arsenal to win with a confident 3-0 home performance. His core take: “It is Arsenal’s title. They are not going to blow it now, against Burnley.”
Merson sees this as quite a comfortable evening for the Gunners. He expects Mikel Arteta’s side to make an early breakthrough, settling the home crowd’s nerves. As much as Burnley are still scrapping — showing fight in their recent draw against Aston Villa — Merson believes they have frustrated their own supporters much more than they have frustrated the opposition this season.
The contrarian view from Merson: he says if Arsenal can’t win the league from here on, they never will. Burnley are already relegated and Crystal Palace will be looking forward to their Europa Conference League final, so it’s the perfect time to be playing these two teams.
Merson’s prediction: 3-0 Arsenal

Jones Knows’ Arsenal vs Burnley Prediction — 4-0 Arsenal
Jones Knows is the most aggressive of the three pundits, going one goal higher than Sutton and Merson. He describes Monday night’s fixture as “about as close to a mismatch as the Premier League can offer.”
The statistical case: Burnley have won just one of their last 27 Premier League matches. The market has Burnley at 18/1 to win — a price that would make an away victory at the Emirates the biggest shock result in Premier League history based on pre-match odds.
The tactical expectation: Jones Knows expects Arsenal to start aggressively, pin Burnley deep early, and simply overwhelm them through territory and pressure. Everything points towards a routine home win and potentially a very one-sided evening.
The title race context: Arsenal are now within touching distance. Mikel Arteta’s side know the equation — beat already-relegated Burnley at the Emirates before a final-day trip to a Crystal Palace side likely to have one eye firmly fixed on their Conference League final. It’s opened up beautifully.
Jones Knows’ prediction: 4-0 Arsenal

Where the Pundits Agree
All three pundits agree on the fundamentals:
1. Arsenal will win. No pundit gives Burnley any chance of even drawing the fixture. Burnley’s 18/1 in the market reflects this consensus.
2. Arsenal will keep a clean sheet. All three predict Arsenal to keep Burnley scoreless. Burnley have been one of the lowest-scoring sides in the Premier League all season, and Arsenal’s home defensive base has been consistent.
3. The goals will come from sustained pressure. No pundit predicts an early Arsenal flurry that then peters out. The expectation across all three is sustained Arsenal dominance throughout the 90 minutes.
4. Arsenal will make an early breakthrough. Both Sutton and Merson explicitly mention an early breakthrough to settle the home crowd. This isn’t a fixture where pundits expect Burnley to frustrate Arsenal in the opening half-hour.
Where the Pundits Differ
The disagreement is purely on goal volume:
Sutton and Merson — 3-0: Both pundits expect a comfortable but professional Arsenal performance. The 3-0 scoreline reflects expected Arsenal dominance without expecting Burnley to be embarrassed.
Jones Knows — 4-0: Jones Knows goes one goal higher, expecting Arsenal to push for the bigger margin given the territorial dominance and Burnley’s lack of attacking threat to slow the game down.
Betting angle: The over/under 3.5 goals line is where the pundits split. Sutton and Merson backing 3-0 implies Under 3.5 Goals on their scorelines, while Jones Knows backing 4-0 implies Over 3.5 Goals on his. The Under 3.5 line is typically around 1.70-1.80, while Over 3.5 sits around 2.00-2.20. If you side with the 2-1 pundit consensus on goal volume, Under 3.5 Goals offers slight value.
Title Race Context — Why This Match Matters
Arsenal’s title fate is in their own hands going into Monday night. The maths:
- Arsenal currently top the Premier League table
- Manchester City have two games remaining vs Arsenal’s two
- A win Monday + a win on the final day = Arsenal champions regardless of City’s results
- Anything less than three points on Monday hands the initiative back to City
This is exactly the kind of high-stakes fixture where Arsenal’s home form matters most. The Emirates crowd will be intense; the team will be focused. Burnley walk into the perfect storm.
For the final-day fixtures: Arsenal travel to a Crystal Palace side preparing for their Conference League final on 27 May. Manchester City face Bournemouth in their own remaining fixtures. The title race essentially comes down to: does Arsenal navigate two winnable fixtures cleanly?
