Aston Villa dreaming of a famous top-four charge
Making real history last season as they clinched a famous Europa Conference League ticket, Aston Villa have once again come flying out of the traps this time around. Laying down another clinical marker on Sunday afternoon as they breezed their way to a 3-1 romp against Premier League returners Luton, Unai Emery’s side are riding what has quickly become a remarkable wave of momentum. Continuing to gain a string of plaudits and receiving a fearsome reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third, Aston Villa have now won each of their previous 12 straight Premier League showdowns in front of their own supporters. Likewise, since taking charge in the Midlands last year, Emery’s men have won 20 Premier League contests throughout 2023, a tally that is only surpassed by defending champions Manchester City.Champions League Special: 40/1 Champions League 2023/24 Group Winners Accumulator TipWhat a job Unai Emery is doing at Aston Villa! 💜#MOTD2 #BBCFootball pic.twitter.com/PBSejMMCWD

Martinez makes his expectations clear
Claiming a routine 3-1 victory against Luton on Sunday afternoon, Aston Villa now find themselves sat just a single point adrift of breaking into the Champions League spots. Collecting 22 points from their first 10 Premier League appearances and impressing on either side of October’s international break, Villa are really starting to believe that they can crack the top-four this season. Speaking last week, World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez was filled with praise for the job that Emery has done in the Midlands and made his expectations clear.“Unai Emery, one of the top five managers in the world right now.”
“Aston Villa wants to win the Champions League and win a trophy. I’m not here to waste time. We will win something.”
“Since I joined, we move forward and I’ll try to put Aston Villa in the Champions League.”
