Rodri has become only the 7th player in history to win the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup.
The Manchester City midfielder completed the set when Spain beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the 2026 World Cup final on 20 July — a night on which he also collected the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player. His compatriot Aymeric Laporte joined the same exclusive club in the very same match.

How did Rodri complete the set?
Three of the four boxes were ticked long ago at Manchester City. Rodri won four Premier League titles in a row from 2020-21 to 2023-24, lifted the FA Cup in 2022-23 (adding another in 2025-26), and scored the winning goal in the 2023 Champions League final against Inter as City completed the Treble. The only missing piece was the World Cup — and Spain’s win in North America finally delivered it.
That he did it while being named the best player at the tournament only underlines the point. Rodri didn’t make up the numbers in Spain’s success; he was its metronome, the man the whole side played through on the way to the trophy.
Who else is on the list?
It’s a roll call of modern greats, and a heavily Chelsea- and City-flavoured one. Thierry Henry got there first, completing the set when he won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2009. Juliano Belletti, scorer of Barcelona’s winner in the 2006 final, followed a year later with Chelsea. Pedro and N’Golo Kanté both finished the job at Stamford Bridge, in 2018 and 2021 respectively.
Then came the City wave. Julián Álvarez completed all four in 2023, pairing his 2022 World Cup win with Argentina with City’s Treble. And in 2026, Aymeric Laporte and Rodri made it seven, both crossing the line as Spain were crowned world champions.
How many Manchester City players are on the list?
Three of the seven — Álvarez, Laporte and Rodri — did it as City players, all of them building on the club’s 2022-23 Treble. No other club has produced more members of this group, a neat marker of how much the Etihad trophy machine has reshaped the modern game’s honours lists.
Is this the same as the Ballon d’Or record?
No — and it’s worth being clear, because two different “seventh player” milestones landed for Rodri on the same night. This list is about four specific trophies: the World Cup, Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup. Separately, Rodri also became the seventh man to win the World Cup, a continental title (his Euro 2024 with Spain), the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or — and, per Manchester City, the first man ever to win all of the World Cup, European Championship, Champions League, Premier League and Ballon d’Or. Two rare clubs, joined in one evening.
Betting on football’s next big individual honour
Rodri’s stock has never been higher, and he’s among the names in the 2026 Ballon d’Or market — though Harry Kane leads it after his own remarkable season. You can see how that race is shaping up on our Ballon d’Or 2026 odds page, part of our wider football odds hub.
