About the Virgin Bet Welcome Offer

The £30 welcome offer splits as £20 in sportsbook free bets (2 x £10 tokens) and £10 in Bet Builder free bets (2 x £5 tokens), giving you flexibility across both standard markets and same-game multis. It’s one of the better £10-stake welcome offers on the UK market — bigger than bet365’s equivalent £30 offer in terms of how the credits are split, with no promo code required.

Is the Virgin Bet Welcome Offer Worth Claiming?

Yes. £30 in free bets for a £10 qualifying stake is one of the more competitive welcome offers at the £10 stake level. The structure is identical to the LiveScore Bet sign-up offer — which makes sense because Virgin Bet and LiveScore Bet share the same parent company.

How it compares to other £10 welcome offers:

At the £10 stake level, only two UK bookmakers beat Virgin Bet’s £30:

If maximum free bet value is your priority, claim the Betfred or BoyleSports offer first. If you specifically want the Virgin Bet account for the free horse racing streams, the BOG, or the Virgin brand, the £30 here is solid value.

What Can You Use the Virgin Bet Free Bets On?

You receive four separate free bet tokens rather than one £30 chunk. Here’s how to use each one.

The 2 x £10 Sportsbook Free Bets

These are your most flexible tokens. Use them on:

  • Singles, doubles, trebles or accumulators across any sport
  • Football match result, both teams to score, total goals, correct score, half-time/full-time, anytime goalscorer
  • Horse racing — win, each-way, daily multiples, NAP selections
  • Tennis, cricket, golf, rugby, NFL, NBA, MMA, boxing, darts, snooker
  • Any pre-match or in-play market on the Virgin Bet sportsbook

The £10 sportsbook tokens cannot be split — each one must be used in a single bet of £10. You cannot stake £5 of one token and save the rest.

The 2 x £5 Bet Builder Free Bets

These can only be used on Virgin Bet’s Bet Builder feature. Bet Builder lets you combine multiple selections from the same match — for example: Manchester City to win, both teams to score, over 2.5 goals, Erling Haaland to score, Phil Foden to be carded.

Bet Builder works on most football fixtures including Premier League, Championship, Champions League and major European leagues. Each £5 free bet is used on a single Bet Builder selection.

Suggested Strategy

If you want to maximise the chance of getting profit from your free bets:

  • One sportsbook free bet on a higher-odds selection (something around 4/1 or bigger). The bigger the price, the bigger the potential return — and you don’t get your stake back, so low odds give you minimal profit.
  • One sportsbook free bet on a confidence pick at solid odds. A NAP from our NAP of the Day, a Premier League favourite at the right price, or a Lucky 15 single.
  • Both Bet Builder free bets on weekend Premier League fixtures from our bet builder tips.

For pre-built selections to use with these free bets, browse our football tips, bet builder tips, accumulator tips, both teams to score tips, and horse racing tips.

Why Open a Virgin Bet Account?

The welcome offer is the entry point — but the reasons to keep using Virgin Bet beyond the free bets are what determine whether the account is worth keeping.

Free horse racing live streaming. Virgin Bet stream all UK and international horse racing for free to any funded account. You don’t need a bet on the race to watch. Few UK bookmakers offer this generosity at scale. If you bet on Cheltenham, the Grand National, Royal Ascot, Goodwood or daily UK racing, this is genuinely useful.

Best Odds Guaranteed on UK and Irish racing. Take a price on a horse from 9am on race day. If the starting price is bigger, you’re paid at the bigger price. Maximum enhancement £50,000 per day. See our Best Odds Guaranteed guide for how BOG works and which other bookmakers offer it.

UK phone support. Virgin Bet maintain a phone line on 0808 169 7700, available 8am to 2am UK time. Many newer competitors have moved to chatbot-only support — Virgin Bet still let you speak to a human.

Strong horse racing credentials. Virgin Bet are the leading partner of Goodwood Racecourse and sponsor the Ayr Gold Cup. The commercial relationships translate into product investment — particularly the streaming and BOG terms.

Clean, mobile-first app. The app is well-designed, with feature parity across iOS and Android. Bet Builder, cash out and live streaming all work reliably.

24/7 live chat. Round-the-clock customer support via live chat, with an active @VirginBetHelp account on X for public-facing queries.

What to Watch Out For

Three things worth knowing before you sign up.

1. The £5 monthly inactivity fee. Virgin Bet charges £5 per month from any remaining balance after 18 months of inactivity. The fee continues until the account is reactivated or the balance is emptied. This is not unusual across the UK industry, but is worth knowing — if you only plan to use the account for the welcome offer and then move on, withdraw your balance to avoid the fee.

2. The free bet split limitation. You cannot stake all £30 on a single market. The structure is fixed as 2 x £10 sportsbook + 2 x £5 Bet Builder, and each token is single-use. Plan your bets accordingly.

3. Same parent company as LiveScore Bet. Virgin Bet and LiveScore Bet are owned by the same company (LiveScore Group). The T&Cs typically prevent claiming both welcome offers — choose one or the other based on whether you prefer the Virgin Bet horse racing focus or the LiveScore Bet football and scores integration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do I need to deposit for the Virgin Bet welcome offer?

A minimum of £10 is required to qualify for the £30 free bet welcome offer.

Do I need a Virgin Bet promo code?

No. The Virgin Bet sign-up offer does not require a promo code. Registering through our sign-up link automatically qualifies you for the £30 free bet.

What odds do I need on my qualifying bet?

Your qualifying bet must be at minimum odds of 1.5 (1/2 fractional, 3/2 in decimal-British format). Most singles on Premier League favourites, Champions League favourites, and short-priced racing favourites meet this threshold.

When do I get my free bets?

Free bets are credited once your qualifying bet has settled — win or lose. You then have 7 days to accept them, and 7 days from acceptance to use them.

Can I withdraw the free bet credits as cash?

No. The free bet credits cannot be withdrawn directly. You must place them as bets — only any winnings from those bets can be withdrawn (and the original stake is not returned with free bet winnings).

Can I split the £30 across multiple bets?

You receive four separate tokens — 2 x £10 sportsbook free bets and 2 x £5 Bet Builder free bets. Each token must be used as a single bet at full value. You cannot subdivide a £10 token into smaller stakes.

Why is the free bet split between the sportsbook and Bet Builder?

Virgin Bet (and sister site LiveScore Bet) split their free bets to encourage you to try both standard markets and the Bet Builder feature. Bet Builder is one of the most popular UK betting products, particularly on Premier League fixtures, so the split rarely causes practical issues.

What happens if my qualifying bet wins?

Your qualifying bet wins or loses normally — you receive the standard winnings on the bet itself, plus the £30 free bet bonus regardless of whether the qualifying bet won.

What happens if my qualifying bet loses?

Your qualifying stake is lost as normal, but you still receive the £30 in free bets. The free bet is paid based on placing and settling the qualifying bet, not on whether it wins.

Can I claim the offer more than once?

No. The Virgin Bet welcome offer is limited to one per customer, household, IP address and payment method. Attempts to claim multiple welcome offers from the same household typically result in account closure.

Do I have to use my free bets on football?

No. The £20 in sportsbook free bets can be used on any sport at Virgin Bet — football, horse racing, tennis, cricket, golf, NFL, NBA, MMA, darts, snooker and more. The £10 in Bet Builder free bets is restricted to Bet Builder markets, which are predominantly football fixtures plus selected other sports.

Is the offer available on the Virgin Bet app?

Yes. The full sign-up offer is available on the Virgin Bet iOS and Android apps as well as the desktop site. The registration and qualifying bet process is identical across platforms.

Can I claim the Virgin Bet offer if I have a LiveScore Bet account?

This is restricted under the LiveScore Group T&Cs because both bookmakers are owned by the same parent company. Attempting to claim both welcome offers typically results in one being voided. Choose either Virgin Bet or LiveScore Bet based on your preference — see the comparison in our Virgin Bet review.
