Our West Ham vs Wolves bet builder tips, predictions and best bets come from two clubs whose figures describe a division they no longer play in.
Both came down together. Wolves scored six goals in nine away matches last season and failed to score in nine of twenty. Jarrod Bowen has hit the target in five of his last six.

West Ham vs Wolves Key Stats and Insights
- 6 goals in 9 away matches for Wolves at 0.67 a game, with 17 conceded. They failed to score in nine of twenty, the highest blank count on Tuesday’s card.
- 42.15 final third entries a game for Wolves against West Ham’s 53.85 — the lowest figure in our Championship data.
- 5 of 6 for Jarrod Bowen hitting the target, at 2/5, from 1,785 minutes and 90 in each of his last three.
- 0.46 cards per 90 for Valentín Castellanos, the highest rate among the confirmed starters, at 11/4.

- 1.800 to 1.950 on West Ham since the market opened, with Wolves shortening from 3.900 to 3.700.
West Ham vs Wolves Bet Builder Tips
J. Bowen 1+ Shot on Target — 5 of His Last 6, 2/5
1, 1, 0, 1, 1 and 1 in his last six, at 0.86 per 90 across 1,785 minutes. Five of six is 83% against an implied 71%.
He is the most involved player in either squad — 38 shots, 17 on target and 36 tackles across the sample, with 90 minutes in each of his last three. The single blank came in a full ninety against Newcastle, so the floor is genuine rather than a rotation artefact.
It is short, and the edge is smaller than the other three. It is in the build because a leg with a floor does less damage to the rest, and because West Ham’s attacking output has to come from somewhere with Tomáš Souček out. Our shots on target prop bets page explains why the 0.5 line suits a player who hits one and stops.
V. Castellanos to be Carded — 0.46 per 90, 11/4
Eight yellows in 1,575 minutes at 0.46 per 90 — the highest card rate and the highest count among the twenty-two confirmed starters — which puts him around 37% against an implied 27%.
A forward carrying that rate is unusual, and it is not a small sample: eight bookings across a full season with 90 minutes in each of his last three.
Both sides support it. West Ham’s matches averaged 4.40 cards and Wolves’ 4.20, with own-card figures of 2.05 and 1.95. Lewis Smith books 3.90 a game across 48 Championship matches against a career figure of 3.24, which puts him marginally below the two sides rather than above them — that is the honest caution and it is why over 4.5 cards is not a bet on this page.
R. Gomes Anytime Goalscorer — 0.42 per 90, 9/2
Four goals in 857 minutes at 0.42 per 90 — the best scoring rate in either squad — which puts him around 34% across a full match against an implied 18%. That is the widest gap on this page.
He has started 77, 67 and 67 minutes in his last three, so he is established in the side without regularly seeing ninety. At 70 minutes the rate produces closer to 28%, which still beats the price.
The argument against is substantial and it is the team rather than the player. Wolves scored six goals across nine away matches last season at 0.67 a game, failed to score in nine of twenty, and enter the final third 42.15 times a match — the lowest figure in our Championship data. If they do not create, his rate is academic. Our anytime goalscorer tips page sets out why the side’s creation matters as much as the striker’s finishing.
No Both Teams to Score — 9 of West Ham’s Last 20, 10 of Wolves’
Wolves failed to score in nine of twenty — the highest blank count on Tuesday’s card — and managed 0.67 goals a game away from home. West Ham kept six clean sheets and conceded 0.78 at the London Stadium.
Both sides also produced goals at both ends in only about half their matches, the two lowest rates on the card alongside Leeds and Brentford.
What beats it is West Ham blanking themselves. They failed to score five times in twenty, and a 0-0 settles this leg while a 0-1 does not — the leg needs West Ham to score and Wolves not to, which is the single most likely shape but not by a wide margin.
Where the Odds and the Stats Disagree
Every price implies a probability. Turn 9/2 into a percentage and the market is saying 18%. We work out the same number from the player’s own record — goals or cards per 90, or how often he has cleared a line in his last six — and publish both.
The selections where the record beats the price:
| Selection | Price | Market implies | Our figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| R. Gomes anytime goalscorer | 9/2 | 18% | 34% |
| V. Castellanos to be carded | 11/4 | 27% | 37% |
| V. Castellanos 2+ shots on target | 13/8 | 38% | 50% |
| J. Bowen 1+ shot on target | 2/5 | 71% | 83% |
| V. Castellanos 3+ shots on target | 6/1 | 14% | 33% |
The ones where the two agree:
| Selection | Price | Market implies | Our figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| M. Solomon anytime goalscorer | 2/1 | 33% | 28% |
| R. Gomes 2+ shots on target | 6/1 | 14% | 17% |
And the ones priced above what the players have done:
| Selection | Price | Market implies | Our figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| V. Castellanos anytime goalscorer | 3/2 | 40% | 29% |
| Over 4.5 cards | 5/6 | 55% | 39% |
One thing worth knowing before reading those columns. An implied probability always includes the bookmaker’s margin, which on this fixture is 6.9% across the three match result outcomes. So a perfectly fair price will still look slightly against us, and a small gap in our favour is closer to level than it appears.
The last table is the one we will not tip. Castellanos is West Ham’s leading scorer and shot-taker and the market has him at 40% on a 29% record — his card line is the better bet on the same player.
How the Four Fit Together
Four legs at 2/5, 11/4, 9/2 and the goals market, which compounds to around 55/1. Rodrigo Gomes carries the price and the widest gap.
Bowen and no both teams to score both need West Ham on top. Castellanos needs the match scrappy. Rodrigo Gomes needs Wolves to create, which is the tension — his leg and the goals leg pull against each other, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight. Our bet builder tips page explains why we accept that on a fixture where one side’s away record is this poor.
The leg most likely to let it down is Rodrigo Gomes, and it is Wolves’ six goals in nine away rather than his own rate.
West Ham vs Wolves Prediction
We are predicting 1-0 to West Ham. Our model gives them 53%, the draw 25% and Wolves 23%. The market says 48.0%, 26.7% and 25.3% — agreement inside five points on every outcome.
Both sets of figures are Premier League ones and that matters less than usual. West Ham and Wolves came down together, so both records need the same discount and neither is favoured by it. Most stacked fixtures this month have had one side’s numbers inflated against the other’s — Bolton’s League One record against Sheffield United’s, Luton’s against Chelsea’s. Here the distortion cancels.
West Ham drifted from 1.800 to 1.950 since the price opened while Wolves shortened from 3.900 to 3.700. Compare UK bookmakers before you place it.
