Most UK bookmakers fall into one of two groups: those that require a specific promo code at registration to unlock the welcome offer, and those that don’t need any code — the welcome offer activates automatically via affiliate referral.
Below is the current list of UK bookmaker promo codes for 2026, plus the bookmakers that don’t require a code.

How UK Betting Promo Codes Work
A betting promo code is a string of letters and/or numbers entered at registration to unlock a specific welcome offer. UK bookmakers take three different approaches:
1. Required code at registration. Bookmakers like Betfred (BETFRED50), William Hill (R30), Star Sports (BET20GET10), Midnite (BETGET30) and BetGoodwin (WELCOME15) require a specific promo code to be entered during sign-up. Without the code, the welcome offer doesn’t apply. When you click through an affiliate link on this page, the code is typically auto-populated into the registration form — you don’t need to type it yourself.
2. Optional bonus code field. Bookmakers like bet365 include an optional bonus code field on the registration form. For the standard UK sportsbook welcome offer, this field should be left blank — no code is required for the £30 Free Bet welcome offer.
3. No code field at all. Bookmakers like BoyleSports, BetVictor, Coral, Ladbrokes, LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet don’t include a promo code field on the registration form. The welcome offer activates purely via affiliate referral when you register through a verified link.
When you click any “Claim Now” button on this page, the welcome offer activates correctly for that bookmaker — either via auto-applied promo code (for bookmakers in group 1) or via affiliate referral (for bookmakers in groups 2 and 3).
Top UK Betting Promo Codes Explained
Betfred Promo Code BETFRED50 — Bet £10 Get £50 in Free Bets
The Betfred promo code BETFRED50 unlocks the most generous welcome offer at any major UK bookmaker. New UK customers who enter BETFRED50 at registration receive £50 in Free Bets after placing a £10 qualifying bet at minimum odds of Evens (2.0). Important: The Betfred welcome offer requires both BETFRED50 AND affiliate-tracked registration — entering the code without an affiliate referral may prevent the offer from crediting. Andy’s Take on UK Welcome Offer Quality Across the Market
I’ve been registering UK bookmaker accounts and tracking welcome offer changes since around 2002. I was that person at University opening an account with the bookmakers and making sure I used the right promo code to get the biggest sign-up offer. Here are the patterns I’ve observed across that time:
Welcome offer value has compressed. Twenty years ago, “Bet £10 Get £40” was at the generous end of the market. Today, the same offer is broadly mid-tier — BoyleSports and Kwiff both offer it. Betfred’s £50 is now top of the market for major bookmakers, while bet365 sits comfortably mid-tier at £30 because they don’t need to compete heavily on welcome offer value (their brand strength does that).
The “no code needed” model has grown. Ten years ago, most UK bookmakers required a specific promo code at registration. Today, more than half don’t — BoyleSports, bet365, Coral, Ladbrokes, LiveScore Bet, BetVictor, Virgin Bet, Kwiff, JeffBet, High Bet and others activate via affiliate referral with no code field at all. This doesn’t stop people searching for a code, because that is the nature of spending money online.
Bookmakers requiring codes have stabilised their codes. Betfred has used BETFRED50 consistently for several years. William Hill has used R30 for a similar period. Star Sports has used BET20GET10. These codes are stable, which suggests the bookmakers see commercial value in maintaining brand recognition around them. In addition to this, most codes automatically get added to your registration, as long as you use the correct link. Going straight to the bookmaker’s website usually means you have to input the code manually.
The hidden trap: payment method exclusions. This has expanded significantly. Skrill, Neteller, PaySafe card and certain prepaid cards are excluded from welcome offer eligibility at most UK bookmakers now. Apple Pay sometimes qualifies, sometimes doesn’t. PayPal usually qualifies, but with exceptions. The “use a debit card directly” approach remains the safest qualifying payment method across virtually every UK bookmaker.
Wagering requirements are creeping in. Pure Free Bet welcome offers (no wagering, winnings withdrawable immediately) remain available at bet365, BetVictor, Coral, Ladbrokes and Betfred among major bookmakers. But newer entrants (10Bet, JeffBet, BetRino, 21LuckyBet and others on the Progress Play network) increasingly use 1x or 10x wagering structures that complicate the welcome offer experience.
If you’re new to UK betting and want a clean Free Bet experience, the major established bookmakers (Betfred, bet365, BetVictor, Coral, Ladbrokes, BoyleSports) deliver the most straightforward welcome offers. If you’re comfortable with bonus mechanics and want larger headline numbers, the newer Progress Play network brands offer bigger initial figures with more involved wagering structures behind them.
The honest truth: welcome offer value alone shouldn’t drive your bookmaker choice. The product quality, customer service, withdrawal speed and ongoing offer programme matter more once you’re past the first week. Welcome offers are a one-time hook; the bookmaker is a multi-year relationship. Furthremore, you should never stick to just one bookmaker. There are always better offers elsewhere for certain matches/races/sports or tournaments. Keep a few accounts open and only deposit into them when you want to use them. But make sure you use the correct links when signing up.
UK Betting Promo Codes — FAQs
What’s the best UK betting promo code in 2026?
The best UK betting promo code depends on your betting style. For maximum welcome offer value, Betfred (BETFRED50) delivers £50 in Free Bets — the highest standard welcome offer at any major UK bookmaker. For users wanting the simplest qualifying bet terms, bet365 (no code needed) has the lowest minimum odds threshold (1/5 vs the standard Evens at most competitors). For bet builder punters, BoyleSports (£40 flexible token) and Kwiff (£40 split including bet builder allocation) deliver strong value.
Do all UK bookmakers require a promo code?
No. UK bookmakers take three different approaches: some require a code at registration (Betfred, William Hill, Star Sports, Midnite, Matchbook, BetGoodwin), some include an optional code field that should be left blank (bet365), and some don’t include a code field at all (BoyleSports, BetVictor, Coral, Ladbrokes, LiveScore Bet, Virgin Bet, SBK, Kwiff and others).
Why do some bookmakers require codes and others don’t?
The difference reflects different commercial structures. Bookmakers requiring codes typically use them to track specific promotional campaigns or partnership-specific offers. Bookmakers that don’t require codes use affiliate referral for tracking welcome offer eligibility. Neither approach is inherently better — they reflect different commercial preferences.
Will the promo codes be automatically applied if I click your links?
In most cases, yes. When you click through an affiliate link on this page for bookmakers that require codes (Betfred, William Hill, Midnite, etc.), the promo code is typically auto-populated into the registration form — you don’t need to type it manually. For bookmakers that don’t require codes, the welcome offer activates via affiliate referral when you click through.
Can I use multiple UK betting promo codes?
Yes. You can claim welcome offers at multiple UK bookmakers as a new customer at each — “one per customer” rules apply per bookmaker rather than across the industry. The £30 welcome offer at bet365 doesn’t prevent you from claiming the £50 welcome offer at Betfred. The main exception: bookmakers under the same parent group sometimes share fraud detection (see our sister sites guide for the parent company structures).
Are there UK betting promo codes for existing customers?
Most UK bookmakers don’t operate standing promo codes for existing customers — ongoing offers are typically applied automatically based on account activity or accessed via the promotions section of your account. Examples include bet365 Acca Boost, Betfred Lucky 15 Bonus, and various event-specific offers around Cheltenham, the Grand National and Champions League knockout stages.
Do I need to enter promo codes manually?
When clicking through our affiliate links, most codes are auto-populated — you don’t need to type them. If the code isn’t pre-filled (occasionally browser cookie settings or ad blockers can prevent auto-apply), type the code manually in the promo code field during registration. For bookmakers with no code field (BoyleSports, BetVictor, etc.), there’s nothing to enter.
Where do I enter a betting promo code on the registration form?
The promo code field is typically near the bottom of the registration form, often after personal details and payment preferences. Some bookmakers (like BetGoodwin) require the code to be entered AFTER registration via the account dashboard rather than during sign-up — always check the specific instructions for each bookmaker.
What happens if I forget to enter the promo code?
For bookmakers requiring codes (Betfred, William Hill, Star Sports, Midnite, Matchbook), completing registration without the code means the welcome offer doesn’t apply. The codes typically cannot be added retrospectively. To avoid this, click through our verified affiliate links — the codes are auto-populated where possible.
Are casino promo codes different from sportsbook promo codes?
Yes. UK bookmakers typically operate separate welcome offers for sportsbook and casino products, with different codes (where required) and different terms. This page covers sportsbook promo codes — see our casino sign-up offers hub for casino-specific welcome offers.
