Day Two of York’s Ebor Meeting keeps the ITV Racing cameras rolling, and our Thursday tip is Kalpana to win the feature Yorkshire Oaks — the NAP of our card, which also includes a selection for all five televised races.
Andrew Balding’s filly arrives at the top of her game after King George glory, and can follow up in the Group 1. Below are our tips for every ITV race on Day 2 at the Knavesmire.

13:50 York – Lowther Stakes (Group 2): Libertango
Libertango can get back on the scoresheet here and atone for her narrow defeat in a Newmarket Group Two last time.
The No Nay Never filly ran very well in defeat, just fading late behind Senorita Bonita and losing out close home having travelled like the winner into the race — form since boosted by the third horse, who won a Listed race next time out. She had won the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot the time before, overcoming both a slow start and traffic problems to score readily, and that form looks very solid with the runner-up a subsequent Group One winner. Not to be judged harshly on that latest defeat by a very smart rival, she can bounce back to winning ways.
14:25 York – Harry’s Half Million by Goffs: Sun Goddess
Sun Goddess can notch another success to enhance an excellent win record, and Aidan O’Brien’s charge should go very close.
The Sioux Nation filly is a three-time winner already this term, beaten only on her debut and when second in the Albany Stakes at Ascot — form that could be boosted if Libertango wins the opener on this card. She arrives on the back of wins at the Curragh, most recently taking the Group One Phoenix Stakes, and with the prospect of better still to come she can land another valuable prize.
15:00 York – 7 In 7 Grand Finale Handicap: Bullet Point
Bullet Point won the corresponding race twelve months ago and, only 1lb higher in the weights, it’s worth chancing William Haggas’ charge again.
The Advertise gelding was out of sorts on his first couple of starts this season, but given a break and fitted with cheekpieces for the first time he ran well for second in a valuable big-field handicap at York, beaten only by Crown Board in the Shergar Cup Mile. Assuming he can replicate that with the headgear retained, he remains on an exploitable mark, and back at this venue he can go one place better and defend his title.
15:35 York – Yorkshire Oaks (Group 1): Kalpana (NAP)
Kalpana arrives at the top of her game and Andrew Balding’s charge can follow up her win last time in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes — the NAP of our card.
The Study Of Man filly has always been high-class, and the Juddmonte runner is 2-3 for the campaign having won at Newbury before a narrow defeat by Giavellotto in the Hardwicke Stakes — form that has since thrown up both a French Group Two winner and an Irish Group Three winner, so it’s strong. She found plenty to hold off the top-class stayer Calandagan latest, scoring by just over a length, and a repeat of that ought to make her tough to beat here.
16:10 York – Galtres Stakes (Listed): Summerston
A tricky finale could go the way of Summerston, who bolted up by 13 lengths in a Ffos Las maiden last time, with plenty of improvement to come from Roger Varian’s charge.
Runner-up on both previous starts at Yarmouth and Chester, she was trying this trip for the first time when demolishing her rivals, always travelling strongly and only needing to be pushed out to win handsomely. The bare form might only be ordinary and this is a significant step up in class, but her top yard rarely over-estimates potential — so pitching her in at this level off that win could be significant, and she can reward the faith with a big run.
Our Day 2 NAP: Kalpana
Our strongest bet of the day is Kalpana in the Yorkshire Oaks (15:35). A high-class filly at the peak of her powers, following up a King George win at the top level, she’s the highlight of our Thursday card. As always, it’s a tip based on her form and profile, not a guarantee.
