West Ham v Bournemouth Predictions, Betting Tips and Bet Builder – Premier League Match Preview
Bournemouth travel to London on Saturday evening to take on West Ham as we welcome the return of the Premier League following the FA Cup action of last weekend. Below you will find our West Ham vs Bournemouth betting tips, match predictions and a 50/1 bet builder for the London Stadium clash.
Key Stats – West Ham v Bournemouth
- West Ham have conceded 49 Premier League goals this season – the second highest in the division
- Bournemouth are unbeaten in eight of their last 10 Premier League matches
- The two sides drew 2-2 at the Vitality Stadium back in November, with Evanilson scoring twice
- West Ham have conceded goals in 14 consecutive home matches in the league this season
- Bournemouth have scored in 12 consecutive matches in all competitions
- Tomas Soucek commits 1.85 fouls per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season
West Ham Form and Match Preview
West Ham have been in reasonable form of late, with five wins in their last seven in all competitions, but two of those were in the FA Cup. They’re still struggling in the league and are in 18th place – in the relegation zone.
It is worth noting that West Ham have not kept a clean sheet at home in any of their last 14 Premier League matches, conceding an average of 1.88 goals per game across the season. Their last Premier League outing ended in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United, continuing their inconsistent home form.
Bournemouth Form and Match Preview
Bournemouth have had a decent season and are in ninth position in the league, five points outside of the top six. They are unbeaten in eight of their last 10 Premier League matches.
The Cherries come into this one in excellent shape, having beaten Everton 2-1 in their last Premier League outing. Andoni Iraola’s side have scored in 12 consecutive matches across all competitions and have won two of their last two away league games. In their most recent meeting with West Ham – a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium in November – Evanilson was the star, bagging both of Bournemouth’s goals. The visitors look well-equipped to cause problems for a West Ham defence that has been one of the leakiest in the top flight this season.
West Ham v Bournemouth Bet Builder Tip
West Ham v Bournemouth Betting Tips and Best Bets
Best Bet Builder Tip – Bournemouth to Win
Bournemouth have been in fantastic form of late and, as I mentioned previously, are unbeaten in eight of their last 10 Premier League matches. The Cherries have won nine, drawn 10 and lost seven in the league so far this season. West Ham have won only six of their 26 Premier League matches this season, drawing six and losing 14. They have conceded the third-highest amount of goals this season, shipping 49. I think Bournemouth will win this one fairly comfortably.
The stats back this up, too. West Ham have conceded goals in 14 consecutive home league matches and are averaging nearly two goals against per game at the London Stadium. Bournemouth, on the other hand, have won two of its last two away league games and have been scoring freely throughout the season. At 15/8, a Bournemouth win represents solid value.
Evanilson Over 0.5 Shots on Target (13/20)
I’m backing Bournemouth’s Evanilson to have one or more shots on target this weekend. The Brazilian striker has bagged five goals this season – all coming in his 25 Premier League appearances. In that time, he has had 52 shots on in the league, with 20 of them being on target. Coming up against a West Ham side with a leaky defence, I think there’s a very good chance he will have one or more shots on target.
It is also worth remembering that Evanilson scored twice in the reverse fixture at the Vitality Stadium back in November, so he clearly has the measure of this West Ham defence. He had seven shots on target across his last 10 Premier League appearances, and at 13/20, this feels like a near banker in what should be an open game.
Tyler Adams to Be Booked (5/2)
Tyler Adams is the first of two players I’m backing for a booking in this one. The midfielder has been carded five times in his 15 Premier League appearances this season, making 22 fouls, an average of just under 1.5 fouls per game. With one card in every three appearances, there’s a good chance he will pick up his sixth card of the season against West Ham here.
Adams is a combative, physical presence in the Bournemouth midfield and will be tasked with breaking up West Ham attacks here. With West Ham likely to be pressing for an equaliser at various stages, given their recent home inconsistency, Adams will have plenty of defensive work to do. At 5/2, this looks like a strong addition to the bet builder.
Tomas Soucek to Be Booked (15/4)
The second player I fancy for a card is West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek. He has been carded four times in all competitions this season, with two yellows and one red card in the league, and one booking in the Carabao Cup. In his 23 league appearances, he had made 24 fouls, giving him an average of more than one foul per game. It’ll be a difficult game for him and his West Ham teammates here, and I think 15/4 is good odds for him to be carded this weekend.
The wider stats support this, too. According to Footystats, Soucek commits 1.85 fouls per 90 minutes this season – one of the highest rates among Premier League midfielders. With Paqueta no longer at the club, Soucek will be given a more attacking role and will need to track back and win possession regularly. Against a fast-moving Bournemouth side, a foul or two seems very likely, and there is every chance the referee reaches for a card.
Alternative Bet – Tomas Soucek Over 0.5 Fouls (2/7)
At odds of 2/7, reducing Soucek to only make a foul rather than receive a card takes the odds of this bet builder down from 50/1 to 17/1. With an average of more than one foul per game, this seems a very safe alternative bet.
West Ham v Bournemouth Predictions Summary
To summarise our West Ham vs Bournemouth betting tips and predictions for Saturday’s Premier League clash:
Our best bet is Bournemouth to win at 15/8. The Cherries are in excellent form, are scoring freely and travel to a West Ham side in the relegation zone with the worst defensive record at home in the league. Our 50/1 bet builder combines a Bournemouth win with Evanilson to have one or more shots on target, Tyler Adams to be booked, and Tomas Soucek to be booked.
If you prefer a safer alternative, swapping Soucek to be booked for Soucek over 0.5 fouls at 2/7 brings the bet builder in at 17/1 – still great value given the stats behind each selection.
