Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid is the Champions League semi-final second leg at the Emirates on Tuesday night — a tie level at 1-1 after the first leg in Madrid, with a place in the final on the line.
It’s the basis for a 24/1 bet builder combining Arsenal’s home form, the low-scoring pattern of their recent matches, Julian Alvarez’s shot output and Robin Le Normand’s booking record. Here’s the full preview and the bet builder tips.
Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Bet Builder Tips
Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Match Preview
Arsenal welcome Atletico Madrid to the Emirates on Tuesday evening in the second leg of this Champions League semi-final tie. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw in Madrid, so all to play for this time round.
Arsenal are six points clear at the top of the Premier League at the time of writing, albeit Manchester City have a fixture to come tonight (Monday) against Everton.
Atletico Madrid are fourth in La Liga, 10 points above Real Betis in fifth in five behind Villareal in third, so fourth looks very likely. Atletico have won only three of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
The Tips
Arsenal to win — 13/20
I’m backing the Gunners to win in this one and progress to the grandest of stages – the Champions League final. Mikel Arteta’s side have had an incredible season, despite being labelled as boring by many. They’re top of the league, and looking very good to win the title. Coming up against Atletico, who have only three wins in 10, and only three wins in their last 10 away matches. The Spanish side have tasted defeat in North London already of late, with a defeat against Spurs in the round of 16, a tie in which they won over two legs. Arsenal are defensively sound, and I think they’ll have enough to win in this one.
BEST BET BUILDER TIP — Under 2.5 goals @ 10/11
Arsenal games have been very low scoring of late, so I’m backing there to be less than 2.5 goals in this one. This selection landed in the first leg, with a 1-1 draw in Madrid last week, and there has been under 2.5 goals in six of Arsenal’s last 10 matches in all competitions. At home, they have seen under 2.5 goals in five of their last 10. For Atletico, there has been under 2.5 goals in only three of their last 10. However, with what’s at stake for these two, I expect this to be a cagey affair, and I don’t expect there to be many goals.
Julian Alvarez over 0.5 shots on target — 8/13
Atletico striker Julian Alvarez is the man I’m backing to have one or more shots on target in this one. The Argentine has bagged himself 20 goals in all competitions so far this season, with eight in La Liga, 10 in the Champions League and two in the Copa del Rey. In 14 Champions League appearances, he has had an impressive 22 shots on target, an average of more than 1.5 per game. He was on target against Arsenal last week, equalising from the spot in the second half. There will be chances for both sides here, and I think Alvarez will have at least one shot on target.
ALTERNATIVE BET — Julian Alvarez over 1.5 shots on target @ 5/2
Taking Alvarez to have more than 1.5 shots on target at 5/2 increases the odds of this bet builder to 50/1 with Bet MGM, which is very decent. As I said, he averages more than 1.5 shots on target per game in this competition this season, so there’s every chance this lands.
Robin Le Normand to be booked — 21/10
Atletico defender Robin Le Normand has picked up six bookings in all competitions this season, and I think 21/10 is good odds for him to collect his seventh here. He was benched last week against Arsenal, but did come on, so he might start in this one. Two of his six bookings have come in the Champions League, in which he has made 13 appearances. In that time, he has made 10 fouls, an average not far shy of one foul per game. He will have his work cut out against Arsenal on Tuesday, and I think there’s a good chance of him being carded.
Combined Bet Builder Odds — 24/1
Pulling the four selections together gives a 24/1 bet builder. £10 returns £250. £5 returns £125.
The bet works because the four selections are correlated in the same direction:
- A high-stakes semi-final second leg at home (anchor) → Arsenal control + tactical caution → Arsenal to win + under 2.5
- Atletico needing to attack at some point → Alvarez getting shots on target
- Atletico under sustained Arsenal pressure → Le Normand forced into challenges → booking
The bet builder format works particularly well when selections support each other rather than fighting for the same ball — and these four are reading from the same script. Arsenal control the tempo, the tie stays cagey, Alvarez gets his statutory chance from a counter-attack, and Le Normand pays the disciplinary price for keeping the front three quiet.
